New TV failed after 7 months - Manufacturer says 'get lost'
Discussion
I've sent a few things back from Amazon which are outside of the 14 or 30 day initial contact stage, and they have never let me down. I have always been refunded within minutes to hours of the item leaving my ownership - there is no way it could have made its way back to them in that time. They're just big enough to not really care.

OP
Don't hold out much hope on Amazon's couriers!
Father in law had 3 attempts before they sent one who'd take it
Just be ready!!
Ok, thanks for the tip off! Amazon have already booked collection for this Saturday and confirmed via email, but they haven't stated which courier.Don't hold out much hope on Amazon's couriers!

Amusingly, they list the collection time as 1am to 12:59am.... which obviously makes absolutely no sense!
I have decided I'm just going to wrap it in bin bags, as per my suggestion to their customer service person, who acknowledged this and stated several times that it didn't matter if it got damaged during transit.
Oh well, their problem...
Edited to add:
The only good news in all of this, is that a browse of Amazon reveals that for about £40 more I can get a TV that was £1000 recently reduced to £600.
The one I currently have was £560 at the time, with no reduction.

Update:
TV got collected by two very nice chaps from ArrowXL today, who also told me not to worry about not packaging it… “it’s fked anyway isn’t it? Don’t worry about it mate”
Refund then came through from Amazon about 2 hours later.
Can’t complain at all!
Now I need to buy a new TV from Amazon again

Yep, absolutely! I’ve bought and sold all kinds of watches, and they have usually been posted with just the very basic of protection and been fine.
I figure that if a watch is built to survive being on your wrist and being bashed into doorframes and so on, it’ll probably be fine in its box.

I had a computer monitor fail a couple of months after delivery from Amazon. The backlight failed down one side. TV got collected by two very nice chaps from ArrowXL today, who also told me not to worry about not packaging it… “it’s fked anyway isn’t it? Don’t worry about it mate”

I had the same "no box" problem, but bodged it into a box for a much larger monitor.
Amazon's view was the same - just getting into the hands of their courier was all that was needed. I tried my best to package it as securely as I could as I didn't want any issues.
All refunded without any problem.
I also had a NUC-style pc fail around 5 months of use. It took a little bit of work with the agent on the chat about what a "reasonable" lifespan should be but, once convinced, the process of returning and getting refunded flowed really well.
Anyway, these days I hold onto the boxes of anything expensive for as long as I have the space.
