Old school I know, but.....

I am selling this on ebay at the moment. Had it for yonks and am surprised by the interest.

This is not an advert tongue out
I'm interested how much you get, as I was thinking of putting Audiolab 8000A and P on ebay and was wondering if it was the right place to sell them.
Will do. Well, its up to £58 at the moment with 27 people watching and 3 days to go.

Oh and silver on my latest:-

Whoa, what is that, and where do I get one?
It's a Logitech Transporter, and the cheapest place I was aware of just after Christmas was Superfi: Clicky

You do need to make sure your music is ripped losslessly to make it worthwhile over a normal Squeezebox Classic, and you have some sort of server running too.

Miniman, might be able to beat that Superfi price, drop me a mail tommorow. wink

Also not sure about the requirement for lossless. The DAC in the Transporter is VASTLY superior to that in the classic.

That's the reason to use lossless - why bother upgrading to the Transporter unless your source material justifies it?

Anyway, I know the DAC in the Classic isn't all that, hence using a Musical Fidelity X-DAC V8 biggrin

Squeeze box 3, Analogue VU screen saver! Old school cool!
Loved my old Yamaha amp with huge VU meters. Looked good and sounded OK too.

Wow - might have to put my Sony Dolby S TCK611S on!

I won't part with my Walkman Pro though.

Black and silver looks good when bathed in the warm glow of a the tube, with a hint of HT blue smile

I've seen this amp on here a few times now, can i get some details, it looks stunning. Although I guess it's hideously expensive...

Anyone got a video showing what it looks like 'in motion' as it were?

Just out of idle curiosity how much are you expecting to get for both, I always liked them a lot?

Because the loss in MP3 is a massively overstated issue?

Overstated? Mostly. However I've got a couple of tracks that even 320vbr doesn't cut it. Tried 2 different encoders with the same result. Disk space is peanuts now though.

The Transporter is the best MP3 playback device I've heard though. It even seems to get something more out of 128kbit MP3's than most. That's probably just because it looks nice however smile

It really is fantastic.

Testing it in comparison to some very high end CD players worth double that of the transporter on admittedly lossless content produced some barely credible results.

I've been tempted, but I can't see any point given I output the digital signal from a Duet into a Cyrus DAC-XP.

Have you tried it against the new DacMagic?

Not sure the colour is as important at the overall design of the stuff...

My main toy:

SACD / DVD player (which doesn't look the same colour as that is on my monitor):

Also have an xbox / PC and another CD only player that's black, really must take some pics for the home cinema thread.
Same amp as me Ben and similar DVD player. I always knew you were a man of taste ! wink

I think Cyrus looks good in silver or black (I have two systems in silver):

I think my Dad has the same ones - you didn't also buy them from that bloke's shop in Maida Vale did you?

Do they make an AV amp? Now that HDMI has become standard, I don't see the point in having a huge cocking receiver that's 6" tall so it has room for millions of RCA cables on the back - just give me somewhere to plug in the speakers, some HDMI in and a couple of HDMI outs, and maybe some opticals, and make the unit as low-profile as a DVD player or cable box.
