For some reason my magic eye will no longer send a signal through to the sky box to power it up after its been on standby for a while.

When this happens, if I power the box on manually I'll get control back through the magic eye after a few minutes. If the box has been on anyway there's never an issue.

It's starting to get really annoying and Google isn't being helpful - any ideas?

What is the cable run like from the magic eye to the Sky box? Mine is very sensitive to movement of the cables and any kinks in the route. Presume the red light is on? Does jaggling the cable help?

Fairly direct, but around 20 meters with a few joins, it is amplified though.

Red light is on and picture is perfect so I doubt its the cable, especially as I can predict when it will/won't work.

Amplified with the specific TV Link amp?

Yep, it's all worked fine for years then started this trick a couple of months ago, very intermittent at first, now its 99% of the time.

Yep, when it decides to play up neither will work via the magic eye but both work fine in front of the box!

It's an odd problem to say the least!

Hmmm, well I'm st out of ideas now hehe

Seems to me that there's something wrong with the Sky box. Almost like when it's in standby its dropping the power to the eye or something like that. Or an intermittant fault in the RF2 unit that goes away when the box warms up - dry joint or suchlike. If the RF2 output is getting some intereference or general dodginess I can see that blocking the signal from the eye.

I would ring Sky and tell them its knackered and perhaps you might move to Virgin instead - they should have a new box out to you ASAP.

That was my thought but the powers always there.
