Given the difference in price between the GT and the VT, I'd be very unsurprised if there was room for the V range, since in the 20 Series it sat between the two.
If you're paying £2000 for a V, what's another £200 for the 3D version?
And I can't see them making people choose between entry-level 3D or high-end 2D for the same price - so, for me, there's just no proviso for the V models in this year's line-up.

Like Apple, only allowing the iPhone 4 to update to iOS 4.3, it'll force many 3GS users to go for one for the personal hotspot feature rather than jailbreak, Panasonic are forcing many who'd be happy with 'just' a 2D only TV to make the move into a 3D one, which they may feel obligated to upgrade the DVD player to one too, and get a few 3D movies to justify the feature and purchase.

Of course, if the glasses are an optional extra (none included, unlike the VT20) then it could be argued it's effectively 'just' a 2D set until the other items are in place, which you're free to not bother with at all or until later.
