So i binge watched the first four episodes last night, pretty sure I have half an idea what is going on and who is who, also pretty sure i am half lost and not really understanding anything. Still its well written and directed, I shall carry on and pick up the book for the next time I am travelling to read!
The book is not long, whereas on the TV show they are filling loads of additional back story and doing loads more character development, presumably to string it out for several seasons.
Chronologically it's also not quite in step with the book but it is pretty close.
However the story on the show is staying very close to the book indeed.
So anyway, the book is amazing, but no less weird than the TV show. I'd wait and read the book when series 1 finishes myself.

I caught the 4th episode yesterday - It was a really good episode, I liked the hook back to how she ended up on his bed and that it was her that saved him that night, it really tied it up well. I did think that it would be a stty flashback episode, but I liked it a lot.
A few moments of confusion, but I did really enjoy her kicking that guy's spine out

I think it's absolutely fantastic.
Stuffed full of superb acting, great script delivery, and a storyline that is slowly unfolding as you get your head around the parallel plot lines.
In a world of mind-numbing ste on the television where the likes of BGT, CBB and Mrs Brown's boys are deemed prime time television, I yearn for stuff that challenges my mind/brain, and American Gods delivers this in spades.

Finally caught up! Agree with this, they seem to be sticking quite close to the book , with a few deviations here and there (Mad Sweeny has been in this more already than he was seen in the book) but all to the good for the show. I was reading last night that this season will be 8 episodes, so there's absolutely now way it's being finished in 1 season. The pace it's going and with 8 episodes a season it'll be at least 4. Which is fine by me Chronologically it's also not quite in step with the book but it is pretty close.
