From a link from the same link as James Corden we have Danny Dyer, Whoopi Goldberg, Ruth Madeley and David Tenent also being put forward as possibilities.

I've never watched an episode with Whitaker, and out of all the above I'd only watch Tenent but I don't think any of the above are ever going to happen.

The conspiracy theorists tracking the Doctor through time was done ages ago. It even had Peter Kay in it!
Twice, the first Ecclestone episode (Rose) had Mark Benton tracking the Dr showing Rose photos of him in the crowd at JFKs assassination and a phot of him with a family who missed getting onto the Titanic.

Bit of a low key announcement this time. Seems ok but I really don’t care that much who it is as long as the stories are decent. Hopefully RTD sorts it out and we get rid of all the bks of the last few years.

To be fair, that guy can actually act. He was good in Sex Education, even if his character was somewhat of a cliche.

He's just really rather young for the Doctor.

I wonder if one of the red tops were going to break the story, so they got their announcement in first?

I trust RTD to cast the 'right' people, so I have confidence that he's going to make a good Dr.

He’s 29. Matt Smith was 26 when he was announced, and that turned out OK.

As you say though, at least he can actually act, unlike Whittaker who basically just phoned in a Tennant impersonation.

I’m looking forward to this: RTD back as showrunner,, Julie Gardner & Jane Tranter as executive producers, Phil Collinson back as producer… getting the old 2005 crew back together in order to get the show off of life support and back on its feet.

Almost all PC correctness boxes ticked. As if that was is any doubt.

He was good in Sex Education.

Baton has been passed.

Funny how this is the second thread where someone seeing a black guy getting an acting role assumes it's something to do with "PC".

Can't just be he's a damned good actor.

What is it with people confused

He was very good in Sex Education.
But it was a shoe in that it was going to an actor of colour.

Nothing against the actor whatsoever - he's very talented.
But Auntie is very much in filling in PC boxes.
eg - Every comedy panel show - must have 1 female comedian ( even they are not funny )

This has been doing the rounds for a couple of years or so.

Tbh imho anyone that’s not Jodie is going to be a better Doctor!

I think she’d have failed even with decent writing frown

Yebbut we were all 13 years younger back then. laugh

BBC want to attract younger viewers, which is fair enough.

Exactly.

My perfect Dr WHo would have been a very cantankerous Patrick Moore of " The Sky at Night" fame.

They are big shoes to fill. - And I'm not convinced she hit the nail on the head.

Edit: The budget and plotline Jodie was given was admittedly weak.

I don't mind what colour DW is.

My biggest fear is the scriptwriters will see his casting as a green light to spend great chunks of his tenure devising storylines to make sure we all know how terrible racism is.

Mind you, I gave up during Peter Capaldi's time.

I kind of feel at this point that the brave and progressive choice would have been someone like that yes.

Exactly what he/she said.
Let’s hope it isn’t a woke fest or cry fest.
Star Trek Discovery has that all sewn up.
No need to compete with it.
