Something that I've not read here is how EXCELLENT his piece to camera is.

A train is approaching from behind. He starts his piece to camera about the place he is just leaving. The train has already rolled into the station. He finishes the piece and turns to get on the train as if it's the most natural thing to do. He closes the door, leans out to say goodbye and the train rolls out of the station.

Unless you've attempted to do a timed piece to camera, you really have no idea how difficult those thirty seconds are to get right and look natural.

He really is an absolute natural.

...and I love his jackets smile

The trousers and jackets are as loud as ever, but he seems to have been mugged by a gang of hairdressers.

Once this week of regular journeys has finished, the next 4 weeks will be a new series of Coastal Railway Journeys.

We are watching Great Australian Railway Journeys this week. I've never seen it on TV but IMO is the best one.

Where he must, must finally go to the Isle of Sheppey on the north Kent coast. After 14 years I'm sure he will be going there. He definitely wont be going to Cornwall or all of the other places we see on TV over and over again. I'm sure of it. rolleyesfrown

He looks like he is just going out to feed the pigs.

The weather must have warmed up for his Northern leg as thankfully he's not worn it so far this week.

I'm rewatching the previous series; he wore a similar overcoat, but in a remarkably vivid orange colour, which was doubly incongruous as he was visiting a wetland reserve by the Severn and he stood out like a boil on the nose.

My cynicism was unfounded - he's going around the Kent coast this week including Sheppey. Friday I think. Let's hope it's more than a whistle-stop.

2025 bump for those that enjoy these - new series of "Continental" started on Monday (10/03) in the usual 6.30PM BBC2 slot and available via iPlayer. Looks like they were filmed / produced in '23 based on the credits so must have been waiting a while to release them.

Appears to be 20 episodes in total in this run so runs for the next 4 weeks.

VG. I spotted the show listed in the tv guide but couldn't tell if it was a new series or a repeat. I shall add it to my playlist.

Just noticed this on TV, great shows to watch. I loved the Portugal ones and it fits in the same TV category as Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing. Easy to watch and very enjoyable.
