Do you need to have watched the previous series to follow this one?
I have and still only have a partial idea. I don't really know if that's helpful or not though.
Assume you mean the original Vikings series? If so, I watched them all and that actually put me off Valhalla. It's set a long time after it so you really don't need to have seen them but for me the massive shift in tone and time period was really jarring and I just didn't enjoy it.

I'd highly recommend you watch Vikings anyway as for the most part it's truly excellent (it's on Prime). The later seasons are a bit up and down in terms of quality but overall I still really enjoyed all of it. It's fantastic.

If looking on Netflix, The Last Kingdom is also really good and I found that to be much closer to the original Vikings show than Valhalla. Set about 100 years after Vikings so there's a little overlap in events as well which is interesting.

Has anyone watched Ripley? I watched Ep 1 last night but gave up half way through Ep 2. Is it worth persevering?
It's beautifully directed and shot. The cinematography is really compelling. I think the series is better than the Matt Damon / Jude Law film. It feels a little slow from time to time, but IMO it's well worth sticking with.

There are lots of stairs. smile
I have stuck with it and have now watched 4 or 5. It is still pretty slow but is growing on me. Nicely shot and very well-acted.

Ripley is one of the best things i have seen in ages. It's amazingly well filmed, I loved the way the plot thickens and develops over time.

I also loved listening to the Italian in there - particularly as I have loosely been learning for a while.

I watched it twice as my GF wanted to watch it too

Just started season 2 of Legion. Was a bit of a mindfk at first, but I'm well into it now. Enjoyable if you can get through the first 3 episodes of season 1.

On the other hand, Kingstown was a bit meh. Season 1 was good, but it went tits up after that. I had to stop watching near the end of season 2 as it was so badly written.

Wrong thread I think, those are Disney+ shows (you're quite right about Legion though, amazing show).

My mistake, I thought this was a general streaming thread.

Anatomy of a scandal. Both swmbo and I are enjoying it. It seems to have received some poor reviews. But we have found it very watchable. Also Unstable with Rob Lowe and his actual son. Its witty and an easy watch whilst having dinner on your lap.

How? How did you read the thread title and conclude that? confused

Come now, CC. You know that nobody reads anything that was posted prior to what they want to say.

He made a mistake. No need to be a dick about it, but I suppose at least we now know who the thread policeman is.

I unreservedly apologise if that's how it came across. I thought I was asking a genuine question in a non-dickish way.

I am not a policewoman nor a gatekeeper nor a mod.

Skywalkers: A Love Story. A documentary about a couple of extreme climbers who illegally scale skyscrapers. It’s part climbing documentary and part love story (as the title suggests) but it’s really interesting to see their relationship developing and how their attitudes to taking risks change.

My ahole was twitching like a rabbit’s nose most of the way through but it’s well worth a watch.
My wife watched this, I caught the last half hour or so.

Some of it felt a bit contrived to me, but I agree, the stuff they got up to was terrifying, and the final climb was totally insane.

Started off really well when they were telling their own stories then the point that Netflix got involved adding some storyline twists was obvious. A bit too scripted for me

Footage amazing though - especially the raw footage from the beginning (pre netflix)

If you like these man on a wire is an excellent documentary. Was on sky documentaries last time I looked.

Ah, you need the “Torrent - what gems have you stolen?” thread.
Only if it's copyrighted material not in the public domain. Plenty of non Beeb UK TV material torrent files available, so you can't even argue licence fee dodging. Remember Edge of Darkness? Brilliant thriller from the late Eighties? I retrieved that as a torrent file.
