We’re currently watching The Sinner on Netflix - stars Bill Pullman as an unconventional New York State cop.
There’s 4 seasons (we’re in the middle of season 3) - really good watch with separate stories across each season but Bill Pullman is the constant.
I think it’s been around a while and seem to remember the first part of season 1 but that’s about it.
Well worth a look.

Cutesy rom-com about an agnostic woman (Kristen Bell) dating a rabbi

(forgot to add thought) Not usually one for rom-com type stuff but thought I would give it a shot as Kristen Bell is in it (really enjoyed her in The Good Place) and glad I did, very enjoyable indeed. 10 x 20-25 min episodes so can do whole series in less than 4 hours

There are two possibilities at play with me here:

1) I am just not patient enough to get properly into most things and just give up too soon

2) Netflix has a huge amount of absolute rubbish which is just too slow, drawn out and not good enough in quality

I'm genuinely not sure which one. It's probably a combination as I love YouTube as it's short, sharp videos of about 10-30 minutes depending on the channel.

With Netflix what I am finding is I spend 30 minutes or so watching something and getting bored which is probably too soon. It doesn't help that many things are just so slow to start. With dark scenes, mysterious opening, flashbacks, etc. I find myself drifting and just wanting to get to something happening, people talking, and following the story.

Serious question: do you read?

Yea I do, probably 1-2 books a month. So not huge volumes, I'm quite slow and only read for about 20 minutes in bed.

Usually contemporary fiction

Finally got around to watching American Nightmare

True story - Couple apparently suffer a home invasion and kidnapping but the police suspect that things aren't as they seem.

Only three episodes and enough twists and turns to hold your attention if you don't know the story.

Thanks. I was curious to see if there was a correlation between, what seems like, short attention span and [lack of] reading for pleasure.

I am none the wiser, although I am better informed, but I appreciate the response.

Interestingly, we were talking about books/TV the other night over dinner. I concluded that when I read a book, I expect to have to put some effort in - exercise my imagination, think around a subject, wander off into reverie now and again. If I watch something on telly, I expect to be entertained, and I have much less patience with TV than with books.

I had Netflix for 2 months after watching Thor Ragnarok on holiday and wanting to finish it, as well as the animated Disenchantment.

However, once they had concluded, there was a distinct lack of anything much to keep me interested and I cancelled. I find a lot of modern stuff is rubbish.

For those interested in this sort of thing, I don't read much but have read lots of books in my time, including the complete works of Thomas Hardy. These days, reading sends me to sleep.

Just finished Mr McMahon,

Was a massive fan as a child of WWE 1997-2002, stopped watching it when the "ruthless aggression" era took over, Basically when Austin went and Undertaker became part time.

Not surprised the story ends with all the lawsuits etc.

Absolutely fascinating series if you ever watched WWF/WWE in the 90's. McMahon really comes across as a piece of work.

It’s ok, but not sure it’s worth watching TBH.

Kind of all about nothing.

I enjoyed but it’s far too long. Could have been told in 2 hours

I thought it was just right, I loved seeing all the old wrestlers, now old in years, plus the old footage. Pure nostalgia.

Watching A Confession at the moment.

I think it's a couple of years old from ITV, starring Martin Freeman as a detective trying to solve the Sian O'Callaghan murder case.
True story and very watchable.

Just finished The Brothers Sun and really loved it.

Michelle Yeoh is great in it and the two male leads are fantastic. Lots of good fight action scenes too.
I finished it last night. If I'd realised what it was beforehand I probably wouldn't have started but I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed it. Asa you say, good acting and good fight scenes.
