Toxic Town.

meh - this sort of thing has been done before and better, with better acting - i dont know why people think Jodie W is a great actor, she certainly cant carry this , plus her accent is all over the place....

also, great to see some classic cars, but some panning shots show a number of houses with solar panels, not sure period correct, given also that they are supposed to be in a rundown dump of a town post-mine-closures.
the OH spotted the ultrasound machine was modern too.

Dark Waters is much better IMHO
I never thought Jodie W could act worth a damn. She was incredibly wooden in Broadchurch and I've seen nothing since that made me change my mind.

every time she talks it sounds dubbed over - i can think that either (a) she originally did it in her own accent and the person in real life was scottish so they then decided for her to (try!) and do a scottish accent and dub it over , or (b) she did it in a scottish accent that was so bad, she's had a second go post production.

Is this a new production, or has it been on network TV before?

'Venus' with Peter O'Toole might change your mind. I think it was his last film and she's superb in it.

Toxic Town is very good btw.

Resident Alien is a fun show so far, up to Ep5.

Good characters and some funny situations.
Really enjoying this. As you say funny with some nice touchy feely bits. Likeable cast. They nailed the lead character. And the sheriff is excellent too. Highly recommended.

For some reason my wife wanted to watch the Meghan Markle thing, I’m not even sure what kind of show it is but it’s hilariously bad. Only seen the first episode but it’s two adults being amazed at primary school arts and crafts. Just odd.
I’m half convinced it’s a parody of itself.

The Guardian were rather damning in their review of it.

SNATCH - The Series

Didn't even know this was in the pipeline - I'm a few episodes in - good cast, plenty of familiar faces... but... it just seems like Skins, but a bit naughty.

Never like these spin-off type of things (although The Gentleman seemed to work rather well).

The Fall – really enjoyed it last night. Anybody else watched it and what do you think? The suspense and intensity were so gripping, I couldn’t stop watching! Netflix is great, but I’ve also been looking into other options, like NBC for example. Will be talking to their customer service here tomorrow. I’ve heard some good things about their shows recently, so I’m curious if anyone else has it. Is it worth it? They have a lot of content that seems interesting, especially for fans of dramas and thrillers

Season 1 was superb. I recall season 2 was not as good and season 3 was a stinking pile of crap.

I'm amazed anyone would watch that drivel, but to some people (mostly Americans) anything anti-British establishment is de rigueur. Hence Netfilx production I'd imagine.

Snatch is becoming a series? Brilliant film, Ritchie's best by far IMO, but can't help thinking the series will just plunder any brilliance and we'll end up with something at best mediocre.

It's not becoming a series, it was made 7 years ago. Brace yourself for Rupert Grint

I'm busy with Slow Horses at the moment, but Snatch will likely be next. I see your concerns, but I'm hopeful - The Gentlemen was a better series than movie.

I watched it when it was on TV (the strip club was filmed inside Len Goodmans ballroom which I used to go past in the way to school every day, when filming they changed the signs outside I got rather excitedbiggrin )

It's a poor imitation of the film but at the time it was watchable. I agree The Gentleman does it better now.

Zero Day. Almost finished this so no spoilers but Robert de Niro and and a very good cast in an gripping political drama. Enjoying it thoroughly, very close to a version of the truth I suspect...

Had a quick look at the trailer, decided a cardiac arrest would be less painful.

I tried this but couldn't get on with it. I like The Gentlemen series but the difference between the two is Guy Ritchie and it was obvious in the pacing.
