Good to see the progress on the Lambo, thought the whole 'one of you guys gets to start it for the first time' thing was gonna be completely staged with them having had it running prior but that all looked proper legit....

There's now a circle of seemingly quite close YT'ers (Matt, Tavarish, Ratarossa, Samcrac etc) all doing the high end re-build stuff and they all seem pretty chill and not at all arrogant.

Yeah I quite like Mat Armstrong, genuine nice guy. Also local to me, he is based just round the corner at Mallory Park.

Actually, there is a very old video of him taking off a supersprint exhaust from an E46 M3 on youtube. Around that time, I had sourced a supersprint exhaust for my E46 M3 also from ebay, and I requested cash on collection.

Drove over to collect at the provided address, and the location upon arriving was at the same location that video was filmed, and of course Mat came out to give me the exhaust!

Small world.

Respect to him rebuilding the engine but is sounded like a bag of spanners when it did start, to me the timing was way out plus I would not have chanced the oil pressure, at least hook up a mechanical gauge first, I have a feeling that engine will be back out soon.

Yeah I thought the same although it could just be electrical problems as they alluded to in the video with the throttle bodies. It was a cold start on a freshly built engine with some ancillaries missing so it might just be ok....

My only criticism....

Most of his cars run with no front number plate and heavily tinted windscreen / front windows.

Bad move IMO

Another fan here since early last year, can't really remember which build got me I to it, think it may have been the Audi S5.
Good to see the Lamborghini move along. The M5 is a bit of a beast of a repair.

Really like him too; really doesn't seem long ago congratulating on reaching 50k subs. What he does to the cars is usually awful to me, but I don't begrudge him at all as he seems like a genuinely decent and hard working lad. Really pleased for him.

I think the Porsche he is building in USA is a challenge.
Especially as Porsche USA won't sell him certain parts.

I agree, it felt like in all the time it took to bodge it (3 times) they could have just taken the heads off and done it properly.

On the 4th attempt I was begging them to fail again so they did it properly!

Dont know if you noticed the engine builder chap from REPerformance hanging around…. I reckon theres been a bit more ‘assistance’ given than they’re letting on. Either way, full marks for getting it running!!

The only thing I dont like is all these other Youtubers jumping in on each others channels. It’s getting a bit desperate to be on the camera to generate the same content…

Taking the heads off would have been a lot of work and cost a fortune (new head bolts at least)

I didn’t like the didn’t like the bodge, but really admire his “can do” attitude.

Nothing seems to daunt the guy.

Considering how many videos he does, I'm surprised this thread hasn't had more updates.

Most of his commentary is in the main vlogger thread which makes sense, much like the Shmee thread, I just don't think there is enough to talk about to warrant a dedicated thread.

I agree, he's always looking for positives and solutions. That Mclaren would have me scurrying to the pub pronto but he's walking the walk with it.

It's easy to be positive when you've already got every solution planned, mapped-out and secured before even the first video in a particular series gets filmed, edited and released. Listening to him talk through the business angle of his rebuilds on various podcasts, it's clear that he puts so much thought into selecting the project cars and planning out the rebuild and video schedule. The ups and downs are there for making a connection with the viewers and entertainment

Absolutely hats off to him. I think he made around £600k from raffling off the M5 recently. Minus whatever he spent on the build. But still, bloody impressive.

He’s come a long way since fixing his girlfriend’s Audi tt on his drive.

Good on him.
