It'll be interesting. The book and the movie were both brilliant and both stand the test of time. I can't believe this will come close but I'll look out for it.

Only because the original with Edward Fox was so iconic and so if it’s time.

It’s the reason Carlos The Jackal was so named.

It looks like it's only very loosely connected with the original story which begs the question WHY link it with the original? Why not just have a new title? is it because it's not that good and the producers are hoping to gain extra viewers via nostalgia ?

Yes, it's what they do now. They buy the rights to an existing franchise or IP in the hope that fans of the original will automatically watch it. Then they add the DEI casting to appease non existent "modern audiences". Throw in the talentless mystery box writing, zero characterisation, mumbled dialogue, stone faced "acting", strong Mary Sue wammin "Who don't need no man" & mix in some key jangling "member berries" for the old fans. Then before it's even released, get their retaliation in first & accuse said fans of being sexist / waycist / gaycist if they don't like it.

It's a strategy that's working out really well for them.

2 episodes in and I have to say this is very good.

Excellent acting, good action, lot's of locations (around Europe) and story is pretty solid so far. I'm hooked and will watch the 5 episodes that have dropped so far (there are another 5 which I assume will be available before Christmas?).

Never saw the original film so watching it without any need to compare it. Nice to see a small a cameo from Charles Dance too.

Promising start and so far bears little resemblance to the film so there’s no need to worry about it on that score

Also 2 eps in and it's good. The usual pinch of salt needed, but hey.

Redmayne is a good choice. Manages to look both like a choirboy and a psychopath.

Nothing like the book (or the film), so they basically just paid for the title.

5 eps available now then 5 more every Thursday, which is a bit of a pain, but I get why they did it.

Can’t be any worse than The Jackal film.

Up to ep5 and it’s holding my attention unlike most of Sky produced stuff which are pretty lame by and large imgo. There are quite a few similarities to the original film. More so the further it goes. Enjoying it.

The Bruce Willis / Richard Gere / Sidney Poitiere one? If so - so so bad.

Nice in joke touch in ep three when they meet at Jackson Lamb and Diana Taverner's meeting place.

Just watched 1st episode. Lots of cliche’d, stereotypical box ticking, story Ok so far.

Must have cost a few £££’s to make.

Hopefully it will get better.

quite enjoying it - but, as others have said, I think that calling it DotJ is a poor choice. The original worked because of the acting, premise and setting, this new one is a good series but it misses... something.

Just finished all 5 episodes. Pretty decent for a Sky production; hopefully they'll make more of these type of shows that clearly has HBO purchase potential to make back their budget.

Hopefully the next 5 episodes hold up well and the story doesn't start tailing off with unnecessary filler. As with most shows, you do at times have to suspend your disbelief but the story and acting more than make up for it and keeps your attention the whole time. 7.5/10 from me.

This is bloody good, started at 3 and I’m in for the full 5 hours.

Never a dull moment and always 3 things happening at once.

Plot holes galore but it’d be boring otherwise.
