Is Chris Harris an 'a' hole

I don't mind Harris, but thought he was badly dragged down by taking part in all the stunts etc with Paddy and Flintoff. Always thought he was better than that.
The thing is, when Clarkson was sacked, Top Gear went down the pan because the programmers chose celebrities and entertainers as pundits, instead of real car buffs. It’s the reverse of what happens when the Clarksons of this world become celebrities, The vast majority are one or the other (P.H or B- listers), not both.Harris is a car bloke. This is a weird thread.
I have no idea if CH is an 'a' hole or not and, frankly, don't care. I don't know him personally.
I like his work, that I do know. How he behaves with people he associates with off screen is his business.
I don't concern myself with how my friends fund their lifestyles, let alone people off the telly.

What I can’t get my head around is that he appears to be quite wealthy with a nice town house in Bristol and a nice pad in the Forest of Dean. He’s happy to spend fortunes on cars normally monthlies of 1000s but at the same time gives the impression of having no money or at least not having made anything out of his career. He’s also privately educated so I think at least in part he has to be a bit careful about slagging off influencers as he comes from a position of financial privilege and it’s only because of that that he can indulge himself in his passions and try and make some money from it.
Again, why is this something to get your head around? I don't concern myself with how my friends fund their lifestyles, let alone people off the telly.

I've only met him very briefly but he seems to be a nice guy. I thought he was a little out of his comfort zone on Top Gear, hence the nervous laughter at times, but he did seem to settle in as time went on.
I enjoyed his written pieces in Evo, and the podcast is always interesting. I don't bother with "influencers" , as the odd one that I've seen has just annoyed me, I prefer to stick to journos such as Chris Harris and Richard Meaden who know their subject and whose opinions I respect.

Enjoy his work, always on the lookout for his ‘content’.
I always get the impression that he’s very self-aware and self-deprecating.
He’s one of us, isn’t he? Sometimes he’ll talk about the “ph forum”, and you get the impression that he knows that his words will get him a good ribbing here.
I think the fact that somebody who knows about custard, hooning, leptons, directorships and powerfully built status on large media platforms, driving and talking about fun ICE cars is a welcome thing.

Yes, and Neil 'Custard' Clifford is certainly one of us as well

To be honest, I think he think's everyone on the forums are tossers. And on the whole, he's got a point to be fair.I always get the impression that he’s very self-aware and self-deprecating.

ONE OF US…ONE OF US!!
love his work.
enjoyed his book very much and he came across really well and sincere in it.
his presentation style is great to my eyes and his driving skills are certainly way better than 99.9% of people on this forum.
Met him very briefly once at a circuit, and he was really nice and charming.
So, in the interest of balance I'd say he certainly doesn't appear an 'A' hole to me.
That said - we all are sometimes, and are nice other times......... it's a bit of an odd question.
I reckon for every person that likes me, there is probably one that doesn't as interactions fluctuate depending on too many variables to contemplate listing.
Am I an 'A' hole - definitely when I decide to be - but it's always warranted. Nobody gives a fck though because I'm not on the telly.

He works in the media, so has a job requirement 99.9% of us wouldn't recognise as normal. That being said, having read his book and particularly the 1st one or two chapters told me he's one of us more than 100 hours of TV or whatever would. The bit about knowing all the stats in the back of the mags as a child definitely rang true here, it made me realise I wasn't the only one who did this as a kid. I can't agree on all his views on cars as we had exposure to different cars growing up (him BMW's, me Merc w124s in period and VW's) but I can tell you he's a full on petrol head and in this day and age, that counts for a lot with me.
