He’s good.
I don't post comments on YT, so I'll say it here:

Jayemm, you're asking for opinions on your new "studio" space. It looks like you've moved a rusty lawnmower and plonked a lawn chair amongst the detritus in your garage.

Agree on drive tribe. Zero interest in watching Hammond try and create his daughter a career.
Get the same when James May has his "assistant" Lucy Brown (who I read elsewhere is a relation of his. Someone said his niece but I dunno) trying to make her a career as well.

The video of them flying back First class from America was tedious as hell, and I hate myself for bothering biggrin

Lucy left DriveTribe because it was st, and went to work for James.

iirc Lucy was one of the first people to work at Drivetribe, she was doing what she did at Drivetribe for others before she joined, she knows all about social media, marketing & production probably has degrees in it and stuff, I suppose when James left Drivetribe or that Richard was going to take over, Lucy was already working for James.

James doesn't seem to be very tech savvy or into social media at all (a bit like Clarkson) so surely Lucy is valuable with the skills she has, idk she was related, but some of the videos like them flying back from the USA seem to give a bit of an insight into what James is like irl, and also that video you mention implies she didn't fly out in Business Class (I am positive this is mentioned in the video) where James did, it was he decided to upgrade her for the return flight.

The Richard and Izzy content idk just needs to find something, it just seems to be too random, I would have thought it would have worked if it was a bit more like Harry's Garage content-wise.

I did enjoy Mat Armstrong’s NYD video on the Cullinan. Certainly did will with it…and the trip to Switzerland looked fun!
Although somewhat naive / foolish to drive to a ski resort in winter on summer tyres and with no snow chains.
My thoughts exactly, especially as the lambo was written off in snow before he bought it.

It’s embarrassing
It's really not great. Not just the presenting but the format and editing of the episodes is also all over the place which it really shouldn't be given the brand.
I unsubscribed months ago, it used to be an ok channel but has been boring for ages now.
It did seem to improve when the new mechanic joined but within 5 weeks or so they got rid of him, I hope the long term plan is not to let Mike go as that would finish the channel.

I think the Shmuseum videos would be better at not 35 bloody minutes long! I don’t go on YouTube to watch half hour things, maybe I’m old but 10-15mins max is it for me

That said I’ll watch longer vids from Hagerty and others that are cinematic, so it’s just Shmee waffling on for half an hour I don’t like.

You've said it yourself - you CAN watch longer videos, just not from him. There will be plenty of people out there who won't watch Hagerty but will watch Tim.

I think there's a lot of younger people now coming through who would prefer watching an hour long video as opposed to a 30 second short. The good news for me is even if they're a small proportion of people, the long views are worth disproportionately more to me as a creator.

Just had a search for this video, I cant find anything on his channel featuring the two of them flying "first class" but google did point me to her channel, is this where you watched it? If so then you can hardly complain about her if you choose to watch her channel!!

Also, you sound like my elderly relative with "first class", virgin upper is "business class" and its not as expensive as it sounds but it does make plenty of vloggers a very good living reviewing.

I half expected Johnny Smith to come in and find a Renault Fuego underneath all that crap.

Good points on the dealers - if you combine a good product with good dealers, it works - it makes it aspirational and presents a fully rounded, professional product. You can't play at it with coffee and biscuits in wrappers, if the overall service is ste and the offer mediocre (cough Vignale).

Lucy isn't related to May. She left DT at the start of 2024 - as people have said, she was a genius social/video/marketing person at DT from the early days. She runs her own marketing agency and helps James with his gin stuff.

Weirdly I find Lucy oddly appealing - I think her awkwardness is rather sweet so I do find myself watching her stuff on her channel sometimes. Sadly Hammond's daughter just has a very different vibe which is off putting and annoying.
But then I am certainly not the target audience so I'm sure no fks given to what I think!
