...the motion that Toby Young and John Leslie - yes him! - are debating now on Devil's Advocate

The twist is that Lesle is arguing FOR the motion and Young against!

Good format, if nothing else....

To be fair, if you want to be a 'celebrity' and I use the term loosely, then you have to expect a certain amount of publicity. If your face fits a current trend or you're in the latest TV show, movie, or are a presenter etc, then you're going to get more.

It's a viscous cycle, which if anyone didn't like they'd simply stop being a 'celebrity' or just not do so much stuff where they're more likely to get photographed so much.

Agreed - I'm with the "it's the price you pay" argument.

But what get's me is when "ordinary" people get caught up in the news of the day (Mrs Duffy types) and the media treatment appears to be exactly the same as a complete media-we-type. That's just not right. So where does the line ever get drawn... and by whom?

Why should they not have a private life? There are limits to the information which the public should be apprised of.

I think the definition of celebrity has changed over the last 10 years, it no longer simply means well known. There has become a separation between stars who nowadays seem to better identified by what they do and 'celebs' who might or might not have ever been good at anything but are now just living off the media.

It is still easy to have a private life and be a celeb. The ones that moan are the tarts that openly want the attention and then scream the place down when they get flashed when they are falling down/puking/st-faced/screwing outside of marriage/coming out of a club.

Jordon, Williams, Beckham, that footballing tart who recently tried to get a super injunction. The golfer who has shagged half of USA etc.
