NK is just stamping its feet hoping for sanctions changes, foreign aid, money, oil, trade - they have done this ad nauseam since the Korean War stalemate.

The US wont attack, because History has told them that this is all hot air. NK wont attack because they know its all hot air.

They see that relations between China and the US are changing and they are worried they are going to lose favour with the Chinese. They are just hoping that China will give them a political dummy to shut them up so they can maintain US relations.

This is the reason they have been pushing so hard for nuclear capability. As their demands might get more results if they can threaten to lob a missile at someone. At the moment its all piss and wind.

If they genuinely had nuclear capability, you can be assured that there would be a very swift regime change and it wont be the US that makes the first move. There isn't a country / regime on earth that would be happy with NK having nuclear weapons, and China is one of them.

This will all die a death, and in 4 months time NK will sound off, threatening the world with annihilation or some such st, rinse repeat ....

I guess the test will be who blinks first. If fatty lobs one up again any time soon then he's calling Trump out to do something. If Trump doesn't react militarily then as you say, the status quo will continue.

If the US shoots it down and/or attacks the launch site (or similar limited retaliation) then it'll be upto Fatty to either to respond in kind or get back in his box and know his place.

I guess we'll find out the answer some time in the next few months, best guess is that Kim Jong Un will talk the talk but keep his head down until global attention is not on them any more.

If those living in NK are happy, smiling, contented etc (largely through ignorance) then why not just leave them like that ?

If the rest of the world is primarily concerned with what Crazy PieMan could do with weapons, I would have thought that the Yanks/GCHQ/Chinese et al would, by now, have the technical ability to intercept electronic commands, use viruses, re-program his key systems etc etc

No easy solution to it though other than complete taking of the country.
Why do people still think this is feasible, or even a good idea?

This is exactly the kind of language that got us into the Iraq catastrophe.
Because they are knee-deep in propaganda.
So you dont think these labour camps exist?

Surprise surprise Mr Infowars!

Are you suggesting we are being propaganized into another war?

Who would do such a thing!?

No ! - I just find it difficult to believe that the likes of the USA don't have some technical ability to interfere with any really dangerous plans by PieMan. Surely, after all these years, they're not just sitting around waiting to see what he might do - I'd like to think that there's a few brains a bit ahead of the game.

That post would have been true about 10 years ago.

He HAS a nuke now, but no way to deliver it yet, apart from in a shipping container or on the back of a lorry.

In the next 3 years or so he'll have a missile capability, thanks to help from probably Pakistan or Iran, or both.

Don't forget the NK deputy foreign minister said "we will react with a nuclear pre-emptive strike by our own style and method."

so best check those containers !!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-39626011

why not wait a year and then when their next annual parade is on when we all know where their supreme leader will be a limited strike on that area could occur and take him out.

That would be the ideal time to strike, but it wouldn't be seen as very fair.

Plus, you'd be killing civilians and alot of tourists and journalists.

If Pie Boy had any serious plans, he'd have executed already. The only potential threat he poses is to the South, which he'd be mad to attack. He is literally surrounded, and contrary to popular neocon propaganda even the maddest of dictators have a sense of self-preservation.

This is about feeding the MIC.

The only reason they are talking nuclear now is because they know everything else they have in their toy box is obsolete, its the only way they can get some much needed attention.

Even when they do have a ICBM nuke its massively unlikely they will ever use it. Its easy to see their ranting and assume they are all out of their minds but they aren't totally stupid. If they carried out a nuclear strike they would be signing their own death warrant and they know that.

A nuclear launch (even if they didn't manage to sucessfully attack anyone) would turn the world against them and I certainly cant see China backing them up in that scenario.

They have put a lot of emphasis on getting nuclear capability, but in the end it will be just as ineffective and useless to them as the rest of their military.

You keep saying "they".

This is a one fatty-man dictatorship who feeds his family to dogs and executes others with anti aircraft guns.

He's worshipped as a god by the populace and everybody is scared stless, lest he throws a tantrum and kills them. Look at any photograph with his generals around him. They all look apprehensive. Plenty of this on the photoshop North Korea thread.

In these circumstances, theorising about what "they" will do is a pointless endeavour.

Logistically one man cannot run a country. He is being aided and abetted by many-many others.

Yes, he is the ultimate power but he is not the only power in NK. It cannot possibly work like that. Hitler had Goebels et all and likewise tubs has his generals and others its just that their names are unknown to the general public.

So yes, "they" is the correct term.

There are many ways to get rid of him but how about these two:

Disarm our side of the DMZ and stop the sanctions. Without the big enemy to justify his existence his continued existence will be pointless. He won't be able to point to any reason why his country can't be friends with everyone else but as soon as he stops he's toast. Make it really obvious, Shops, restaurants, and parks along the border with glass walls 10cm from the border line.

Or..

One missile at an isolated nuclear facility. Call his bluff. Come on, burn the West, charge at the South, see how many of your troops will actually die for you.

In both cases offer him a "safe house" somewhere to live in if he just goes quietly.

Ohhhhh, no....it's not.

You're not following NK, are you?
