I do wonder how long it will be before it is “illegal” to fit / change plugs.
I believe it, technically, is now.

Aren’t you supposed to be a qualified electrician to do any electrical work? Or at least get it signed off by one (which they’re happy to do of course! Not)

Begs the question of why all the DIY stores sell everything you need to DIY......

I think they should get tied to some train track and have trains crash into them until they develop a small bruise.

A few years ago I answered my front door to find a father with two small exceptionally sheepish children who proceeded to hand back my Lotus's dust caps and apologise for stealing them. It turned out they had taken them off a number of cars and he was marching them round to several people's houses. "right, come on you two, we have not finished yet" he said to them as they left. They looked frightened to death. Good. If more parents were like him the world would be better.
I rather suspect (wrongly I hope, though I doubt it) that a parent doing that these days would be on the receiving end of a social services visit....
Nonsense. A parent would get a social services visit for walking their children round to houses to apologise and return peoples property? How does that work?

We've not created anything new.

Society has been in decline for quite some time.

Respect and responsibility are simply none existent in the whole.

It'll get considerably worse!

And on that cheery note...
With respect, you're totally wrong.

By all measures society is better off then it was 20,30,40,50 years ago. With 24 hour news, facebook, pistonheads etc - these nasty little topics get much more limelight then they once would - thereby people see them more often & treat it as the 'common times we live in', when he reality is - this sort of incident is popular for the media to latch onto & spread far and wide. Gone are the times when this sort of thing still happened, but news of it wouldn't go further then the immediate community.

There is a reasoning & a defense to what they did & it will be the equivalent to what has been used for the last XY decades & beyond - kids, with a bad upbringing, within the wrong friendship group were bored & took a mindlessly stupid route. This is not a new thing, nor is it 'becoming more common' - but the reporting of it & broadcasting of it to the entire country has never been so influential on the population & thus skewing of peoples outlook as a result.

We as a society have never had it as good as we do now, including with such occasions like this.
+1, probably the most sensible and logical post in this thread.

Disagree. Phone boxes hardly exist anymore. Local bus shelter is now vandal proof steel construction & car security is umpteen times better than it was....
Fair comments by others that crime is far more widely reported these days, but I don't recall there being such wanton levels of criminality, including knife crime, drugs etc., as 'back in the day', mid-80s.
Perhaps I'm older, wiser & have the rose tinted specs on & am completely wrong - I still think the fkers should be banished, or worse. The rest of the snowflakes can't even wire a bloody plug these days.....
No but most of them can probably code a website, set up a targeted social media campaign, jailbreak a smartphone, setup a wireless network and/or 'smart' home… Times/skills have changed.
