You all here appear to be the oracle of all knowledge. Therefore, this writer seems to think you all are chasing off Muslims through various pressures. My question; is this the fault of the Conservatives or Labour or something else? Inaccurate altogether?
ETA: this is not a windup, just popped up on my news feed and you lot came to mind seeing as you all, for the most part, live there.

I understand your view. That “unfitness you see for public office” is based upon things that really don’t equate, in many opinions, to the national self interest realm. Just a disagreement. smile
I’ll sidestep the squirrel attempt, I am sure there are threads where that story could be discussed.

I think it is in any country’s self interest to have a leader who is not a demonstrable pathological liar.

Trump's signature achievement is lying so often, so transparently, and so pointlessly, while simultaneously accusing everyone who disagrees with him of peddling "fake news".

And his supporters just say "all politicians lie", as if that is a blanket excuse.

The same thing can be said about his childish twitter rants and insults - there's no dignity in the current presidency.

ps
Why do Trump supporters hate California so much?

You may want to ask why Californians hate California so much. They are leaving in record numbers to Texas, and other western states.
I am curious though. Why does it stick in you all’s craw so much how we do or do not respond to Trump and how much he lies or not? You talk as if he is the center of your lives.

This has been answered several times, and there are several reasons.

He is the centre of this thread. It's the trump thread.

Why is this so hard?

Yes you have answered it many times.
Now, seeing as I have answered questions why I support Trump and how I feel about dickedness, etc, multiple times, why is it they keep being posed to me? Is it because I’m the only Trump supporter on this thread and you need fresh confrontation? Perhaps you all are tired of singing to your own choir.
ETA: Oh I am well aware it’s a Trump thread, I was just wondering how it is you like to discuss a man you all obviously hate, and will never change your minds about, for years, and probably years to come. Is there a goal to it, or is it just a need to trade venom to one another about him Indefinitely?

I can't speak for others, but I find watching current US politics like watching a trashy sitcom : the plots are bizarre, the characters are ridiculously overblown, but it's strangely compelling.

It's also interesting to watch new trends emerge.
IMO the trashing of truth is a problem in politics in a lot of countries, and it would be a pity if the US leads other countries to new lows.

p.s. You dodged the question about why Trump supporters hate California, without challenging it.

That is a good analogy. smile
To your question; California, what many refer to as the “People’s Republic of California”; “ The Left Coast”, etc. There are non Trump supporters that have disdain for that state as well. They do silly crap like ban plastic straws in favor of paper ones. Ignoring the fact that the trees cut down to make paper aren’t the best air cleaners around. All of this while overseeing an out of control homeless problem, made worse by the fact that they have free needles and relaxed laws for drug users; this draws homeless to them. There are a number of insane PC and leftist style policies that anger people. California has about 45% GOP supporters but all statewide offices are held by Dems. There are actually efforts underway to legally split California into two or three states. There has been a large exodus of people from the state in recent years. Texas, Nevada, and Arizona have been some of the highest recipients of California’s exodus.
The taxes are incredibly high compared to most other states. Nationwide petrol prices are around $2.20/gallon. California averages around $4.35/gallon, down strictly to taxes. Texas, which charges no state income tax, has been a big draw for not only residents but businesses leaving California. Sorry, this was a rant/ramble and not well structured but I’m in bed on an iPhone. smile
ETA: Their economy, like Texas, is larger than a number of countries. However, that is in jeopardy as businesses continue to exodus with increasing speed due to ever increasing regulation and cost of doing business.

There's an interesting new book out, ties together mostly what we know about trumps relationship with Deutsche Bank and adds some new info.

Dark Towers - Deutsche Bank, Donald Trump, and an Epic Trail of Destruction by David Enrich

Deutsche bank was desperate to break into the US market, trump was desperate for money and so the two were a perfect fit. As well as rthe well documented trump defaulting on his loans for his Chicago development, it also explains trump had previously defaulted on Bonds to them as well.

Then theres the part where Deutsche Bank were money laundering for russian Oligarchs (already charged and fined significantly over it) and how they introduced the olidargs to trump, who 'invested' heavily in his projects.

There's a write up of it here - worth a read
https://www.npr.org/2020/02/19/807191309/dark-towe...

It's no wonder the House investigations wanted trumps deutsche bank records. He's financially compromised by the russians, we already know he's compromised by their assistance with the 2016 campaign, and it's why nothings been done to stop interference this time.

Washington Post have an analysis of trumps budget, released on Monday

$2 billion in homeland security spending for his border wall and a 12% budget increase for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for his Space force and to go to Mars.

To pay for this and the lack of income from his tax cuts, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program will lose billions, and food stamp funding, which would be reduced by $181 billion over a decade. The Education Department would see a cut of 8%, the Interior Department would lose 13.4%, and the State Department would be cut by 22%. The Environmental Protection Agency will be slashed by 26.5% over the next year alone, while the budget for the Health and Human Services Department would be lopped off by 9%, which of course includes the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

'Even with all the proposed spending cuts, the budget would fail to eliminate the federal deficit over the next 10 years, missing a longtime GOP fiscal target. Instead White House officials plan to say their budget proposal would close the deficit by 2035. But it would only achieve this if the economy grows at an unprecedented, sustained 3% clip through 2025, levels the administration has failed to achieve for even one year so far. The U.S. economy grew 2.3% in 2019, the weakest level since Trump took office. During Trump’s first year in office, his advisers said their budget plan would eliminate the deficit by around 2028. This new budget will mark the third consecutive time that they abandon that 10-year goal and instead suggest a 15-year target.... As a presidential candidate, Trump said he would eliminate not just the annual federal deficit but all debt held by the United States after eight years in office.'

Unlike social media, podcasts, reddit etc, media companies have a set of rules to follow and can be heavily fined if they ignore those. A lot of those cover the truth in reporting, which your many other sources don't have to follow. It's no surprise that Facebook is fighting heavily against having to follow that same media regulation, despite many getting their 'news' /opinions that way. It's why Zuckerberg spends time with trump.

It's why I provide sources, it's why people ask for sources, so these claims made on either side can be verified.

As for NYT, remember, for quite some time, NYT was running several stories leaked from team trump that turned out to be untrue, that team trump were leaking to set their narative.

As trump has continuously cut budgtes for health, this is a worrying example of how easy it is for Coronovirus to spread around the world.

A Korean Air flight attendant was diagnosed with coronavirus shortly after working on a flight to Los Angeles, South Korean media is reporting.

The flight attendant worked on a flight from Incheon to Los Angeles and may have spent time in Los Angeles before boarding a return flight. The same person also had recently worked on an Incheon-Tel Aviv route.

Come on Byker, you're clutching at straws with this one.

The US health budget could be 20p or 20 trillion dollars and it doesn't affect whether a Korean flight attendant from a foreign airline has a virus or not.

What should Trump have done differently to prevent this specific event from happening?

trumps tweet:
“CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus, including the very early closing of our borders to certain areas of the world. It was opposed by the Dems, “too soon”, but turned out to be the correct decision. No matter how well we do, however, the Democrats talking point is that we are doing badly. If the virus disappeared tomorrow, they would say we did a really poor, and even incompetent, job. Not fair, but it is what it is. So far, by the way, we have not had one death. Let’s keep it that way!”

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/484648...

More untruths but if he says it some people will believe it.

The US military reported its first case among its soldiers based in South Korea. A statement said the 23-year-old soldier was in self-quarantine at his off-base residence.

and thats only because the prices have dropped by around 10p/litre because demand in virus affected areas of the world. Usually it's around £6.50 a UK gallon.

Distances in the US though are huge, so historically petrol prices are kept low to allow the necessary mobility of people and goods.

Proving whether he lies more or less is not a fair question as it’s not answerable, nobody has a way of accurately answering it, it’s a little like the Seven Bridges of Königsberg.
Well Electro must have that special power. He claims that one source A is crap because B said so, etc. It is what you said, an unprovable circle of opinion.
No, I have academic sources and reputable third party investigation.

You are the one dismissing things and drawing false equivalence. You two are the ones who are happy with a leader who will lie.

So both of you are happy with anything Trump does as long as you get the outcome you want?
