No, she deserves it for attempted murder by cop.

I think most folk just couldn't give a shyte about the racist dog abusing prick !
Like it or not, that is how it is in Merry'ca. Companies place particular emphasis on employees behaviour and anything that could harm their reputation. You either accept that or go self-employed.
It's little different here. Damage your employer's reputation and you'll likely be out of the door. There are a few more hurdles to be jumped here but if she'd worked for xxx.co.uk she'd have been out.

False accusations are very nasty indeed. Without evidence it could have turned into a one person's word against the other's and I wouldn't have fancied his chances much if she played the frightened lone female card. At the very least he would have been the one facing accusations of no smoke without fire.

Dog owners are probably the most entitled bunch, closely followed by cyclists.
Ok, I cycle and have a dog ?

What am I doing that makes me entitled ?

Am I more or less entitled if I carry the dog in the basket on the front ?

I make a point of trying to ensure my dog doesnt affect anyone else, not letting him bark outside, picking his st up and taking it home to put in the bin, not letting him off near farm animals.

I try to cycle so I dont cause obstruction to drivers as I dont like that when I am in my car, I wear a helmet, I use a rear view mirror, I indicate, I stop at red lights, I have lights on my bike, I try to use roads with less cars and cyclepaths.

So, what am I entitled to ? all I feel I am entitled to is not getting splattered by drivers messing on their phones and the like, other than that, dont expect much.
Entitled to expect not to be insulted is all.

There are a few things that I can never understand with these types of stories.
There was a similar one with a firefighter guy having a BBQ in a park with friends in an area designated for that sort of thing.

If a person was threatening your life or intended to cause you harm, would they just stand there while you
pulled out your phone and made a call.

If you thought someone was acting in a threatening manner surely you would turn round and run in
the opposite direction.

It's the same as the types who "accidentally" get caught up in a riot or civil disturbance.
If you turn a corner and there is a full blown riot going on do you
a) carry on walking down the road straight towards it
b) turn around and head off pronto in the opposite direction.
Stressed people don't behave rationally at all sometimes. I once worked in customer service at an airport and regularly got to see well groomed, educated professional people just completely lose it in a way that would be exceptional for children. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the video. People escaping burning planes sometimes stop for their luggage, etc.

Regarding Amy Cooper in particular, it was particularly sinister the way was willing to use her awareness of prejudices regarding race and sex. It's hard to imagine yourself being willing to hit that low over such a trivial argument. Makes you wonder how common it must have been back before everyone had phone cameras though.

I'm not defending what she did. Just querying the relish with which some seem to want her life destroyed.

What is an adequate punishment in their eyes?

Losing her job and struggling to get another professional job due to notoriety?
Losing her dog, which was the reason for the dispute?
Driven to suicide?
Welcome to social media and mob justice. It's a problem for sure, but IMO this is not the hill I'd fight my battle on.
If you fancy delving a little deeper in to this topic, the 'So you've been publicly shamed' podcast is quite good.

Several examples/interviews including the woman who made that off the cuff tweet whilst on a flight to Africa from a few years ago. (This one: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/dec/22/pr-e...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07h3hhp/episodes...

I appreciate that Jon Ronson may not fit the PH profile though laugh
I'd never heard of the lady and that particular tweet - but blimey! If you post something that in hindsight you might think - I wonder if this will be taken literally? and so delete it, but didn't.

The world must have felt liked it just ended for her that day

I was trying to think of how to express my opinion of this women, but this sums it up nicely.
+1. Got no sympathy for the stupid bh. She tried to fk him over and it backfired. With the way things happen in the USA, she could have easily got him shot or killed or jailed.

I know this is all sorts of wrong, but I'd pay good money to see them settle their differences in a paddling pool full of baby oil.

Anyway, as someone with a polish grandad disgraceful behaviour etc.

The job loss aspect as a punishment does not sit well with me at all, its simply put someone who may well be a model employee and capable too out of work.
The jailing or other punisment applied by law if it happens is the right course of action.
Making that kind of false allegation in the current climate of distrust could have held fatal consequences.
Shes an idiot for claiming he threatened her life so I dont feel sorry for her at all in that respect.

The second she made that call. When she displayed considered thought in her accusation and insinuation the outcome was clear,

One of them was about to have their life ruined.

Does any person believe she would have backtracked upon Police arrival? No. She clearly knew what she was doing.

If he'd gone to prison for 10years and this thread was about the quashing of his conviction how severe do we think her punishment should be? Probably 10 in prison + shamed and loss of job.

As somebody who goes into @2500homes per year, with easy 2000 alone with a female her actions scare the st out of me.

Thankfully he was filming.
PHWOAR! Need an assistant?

Not sure about the 500 with blokes though!

I get your point!

My wife is Polish, but I'm not leaping to the defence of the Poles in this instance because it just sounds like everyone in this fight acted like a tt and got what they deserved (kicked out). I don't like pubs at the best of times and my witnessing this type of behaviour when I was younger (and a pub-goer) is one of the reasons.

In the OP, the woman deserves to have the book thrown at her. Only if this happens will attitudes in America change. Calling the cops on black people in America can have really serious outcomes. She behaved appallingly without any justification. The arrogance of someone who could have just said they were sorry and put the dog back on the lead is staggering. The guy would have likely thanked her and they would have gone about their business.

My thoughts too. Grotty pub, Grotty customers. Can't handle their booze.

Choice of video footage is always amusing too. Maybe everyone needs to walk around with a camera on all the time these days smile

I was just talking about that chap on the BBC thread (in response to Countryfile declaring the countryside not a place for black people) because he's a rare example of fighting stereotypes to become what you want to be. That should be the message.

About 20 seconds in to the video she makes a very clear threat to the guy that she would call the cops and say "there is an African-American man threatening my life". This was a very clear message to the guy of what she wanted to happen. The tone at the end of the clip also sounded like it was part of an attempt to get the cops there with weapons drawn.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=x_a-cshN8KE

If she worked for me and that came to light I would fire her. She clearly cannot be trusted.

PS - The dog deserve a better human than her.
