A friend of ours in Lincolnshire received her invitation to be vaccinated yesterday. She's 39, in perfect health and works as an accountant. She, like us, is very surprised and can't believe that everyone older than her in her village has already been jabbed.
It's possible there is an error in her records (error when records were transcribed from paper to electronic) or she had a childhood condition (e.g asthma) that has caused her to be flagged? She should check they don't have her height down as 5.4 inches though, I guess. That would bump the BMI up a tad.

In receipt of carers allowance? That’d explain it. essayer said:
Off for mine today
I heard a rumour that turning up with an uninvited guest (lower down the list..) might mean they get theirs too if there are cancellations earlier in the day, is there any truth in this ?
It has happened. Have told my wife to book a late evening appt so I can go with her and get a spare jag if going I heard a rumour that turning up with an uninvited guest (lower down the list..) might mean they get theirs too if there are cancellations earlier in the day, is there any truth in this ?

Yep!I heard a rumour that turning up with an uninvited guest (lower down the list..) might mean they get theirs too if there are cancellations earlier in the day, is there any truth in this ?
A friend of ours took their mum down for theirs and she got offered the jab too as it was late afternoon with some spares available.
I'm expecting to get my invite fairly soon (under 50, no health conditions which mean I get priority). The district I'm in has, amazingly, vaccinated around 50% of all adults already. It's second in the entire country in that respect.
We do have a more elderly population than most, which probably explains it.

There are spares at the end of the day, they tend to dish them out to police etc rather than chucking them away so I'm sure you'd be OK. Luckily where I am they've got a vaccination centre that front line occupations can simply book in and bet jabbed which is nice.

Given that I do not fit any of the above criteria, why should I have the vaccine and why do the NHS think that I should when the guidance says otherwise?
Maybe they think that most people won’t read the accompanying leaflet?
Apparently the advice is to not bother anyone with questioning why you have been invited, it generates too much work to check, cancel and rebook, just get the vaccine.Maybe they think that most people won’t read the accompanying leaflet?

Nope. Plenty under 40’s are being called now with no health conditions. It’s a bit of a postcode lottery but they are being called across the country.
I got mine last week (caring for a vulnerable relative) and I found a few places in South London with available slots. Picked the earliest one (next day) and on arrival the waiting room was mostly populated by fit (aerobically) women in jogging bottoms - didn't see anyone over 40/50. Kind of looking forwards to the second jab. I got the modified chimpanzee sniffles (Oxford) and can report no side effects for a day, then chills on second day, then loose stools on third day.Edited by fido on Wednesday 3rd March 17:41

Shocking numbers this week I hope they’re going to pick up soon
Could take-up and numbers as above be the reason why younger folks are being clled sooner than they anticipated? No point in having good vaccine and good medics at the ready.towser44 said:
