I'll be surprised if he doesn't find plenty to work on. I'm not sure about this whole 'Deep State' theory but as here, where we have 'the Establishment', I'm sure there are some extremely dodgy relationships and vested interests that could could and should be dismantled.borcy said:

Every other Director since Hoover has been a State or Federal prosecutor at some time (some may have acted for the defence in private practice).
Looks like he has also been a prosecutor (but none of the others had ever been a public defender).
I agree that Trump probably sees him as 'the guy to bring the FBI to heel' based on his earlier interactions with the Bureau.
Still, just like Ketanji Brown Jackson, his history is atypical for the job, and it'll be interesting to see what effect that has.

Patel claims he'll release Epsteins client list, no doubt suitably edited with trumps name removed...
Also claims he will lead “patriots” appointed by trump in an all-out effort to prosecute and jail people in government and the media: “We will find the conspirators in govt and the media. Yes, we are going to come after the people in the media.”
The revenge tour continues.
But then we were told this would happen if trump got in.
Kevin Roberts, president of the far-right Heritage Foundation, author of Project 2025, called “a long, controlled burn” of targets including the FBI, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the New York Times, “every Ivy League college” and even the Boy Scouts of America.
It was in his book, with the foreword by Vance, Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington to Save America,
Then of course, Chapter 8 of Project 2025, with its policy proposals against public media and press freedom and its potential to endanger journalists both domestically and abroad. The defunding of National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). with the claim that the nonprofit media organisations have a liberal bias, and the country cannot afford to spend half a billion dollars on “leftist opinion”.

NBC reporting Biden will pardon Hunter, after promises by trump to relentlessly pursue him for further prosecutions
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe-biden/joe-bid...
In complete hypocrisy, trump of course has called it an abuse of power, the man who pardoned his co-conspirators in Flynn, Manafort, Bannon, Stone, Kushners father, Donesh O'Souza, has promised to pardon all the jailed and violent maga mob faithful..., Papadopoulos, Bernie Kerik
The man whose personal lawyer was selling pardons from trump for $2m

"Way to go, Joe!" Says Rep Jasmine Crockett about the pardon of Hunter Biden. "We have a 34 count convicted felon that's about to walk into the WH. So for anyone who wants to clutch their pearls now, I would say take a look in the mirror."
Pretty much this. Those in glass houses. Besides, we all know the attacks on Hunter Biden were politically motivated.

Do you think that was the correct course of action?
Do you think that Hunter Bidens 5 year long investigation was started as another of trumps attempts to discredit Joe Biden before he announced he was running? The DOJ pursued unprecedented charges after a high-pressure campaign by trump and his surrogates. After five years of investigations, the trump-appointed US Attorney, David Weiss, in Delaware agreed with Hunter's lawyers to a non-prosecution agreement.
But Weiss then backpedaled after intervention by trump and GOP and ended up insisting that Hunter plead guilty to 2 tax misdemeanours (for failure to file) and that he enter into pre-trial diversion for the gun charge. Hunter agreed to these new terms and the two sides submitted his written Diversion Agreement to the Court.
The deal included a mutually agreed upon immunity provision for Hunter. The federal judge questioned the scope of the immunity provision in the agreement, but she never killed the deal. She asked the parties for clarification of the immunity.
So trump again trump with his GOP lackeys attacked Weiss.
So instead of clarifying a deal that he had negotiated, Weiss reneged on the agreement and changed the agreed deal as well as getting AG Merrick Garland to grant him Special Counsel status. Following the pressure from trump, Weiss, as Special Counsel, then indicted Hunter with 3 felony gun charges in Delaware and 9 tax charges in California, having originally agreed to a non prosecution agreement for Hunter before the political pressure campaign.
and now we have trump and his lackeys saying they will continue further 'investigations' and threatening further prosecutions of Hunter Biden. Remember Hunter Biden paid back the taxes owed as others have who weren't prosecuted...
After all the pardons trump made, pardoning those who could act as witnesses against him, pardoning the faithful...

Their whole system of political pardons needs looked at seriously - corrupt every which way one looks at it. Rotten to the core.
Pardons should be legally sustainable, not politically expedient. To anyone.
Agreed.Pardons should be legally sustainable, not politically expedient. To anyone.
The whole judicial system is broken now after the previous trump term, rigged, corrupted, eroded to the point where a president is forced to pardon his own son to escape further political persecution, whilst a convicted criminal gets further cases dropped against him, where a corrupted legal system gives him immunity.
After the number of trump pardons given to his co-conspirators to keep them quiet and faithful... Lets not forget the promises and threats threats trump has made to people like Vindman, Jsck Smith, AG's who prosecuted him, judges, DOJ staff,

100% agree. Pardons should be legally sustainable, not politically expedient. To anyone.
The whole notion of a political pardon is that errors and miscarriages of justice can be corrected. It's based on the idea that any system run by people will be vulnerable to errors and corruption... A laudable idea but based on the idea that someone who is as utterly corrupt and devoid of morals, such as Donald Trump would ever get near the office of the president, as this has happened the power of the president really needs to be curbed.
This is a very shrewd move by the Dems, in order to go after Hunter Biden, they need the permanence of presidential pardons into question, meaning that everyone Trump has and will pardon also becomes vulnerable. Point in short, go after Biden and you open the doors for someone else to go after the people Trump pardons.
I don't expect Trump or the Reps to respect tradition however.
Remember Marge and her 'revenge porn' attempts to smear the Bidens...
