trump bump didn't last long (Should have asked Stormy biggrin )

Volatility of the Tesla stock will remain for a while yet. Too much uncertainty in general and a lack of clarity around US sales helps to blur the reality. I believe their Q1 numbers will be released on 22nd April, but I could be wrong. Fully expect to see more volatility up to the market report. Its bound to happen and fully expect to see drops and claw-backs until then. I am not a gambler or professional stock trader, but its pretty obvious that this might not be a stable investment in the short term.

Numbers are being run by market analysts and its not looking good so far:

https://electrek.co/2025/02/21/tesla-deliveries-ex...

I dont believe that their sales are cratering yet, but they are certainly down and with much reduced margins too. This would place them firmly in the group as other automakers and likely for some sort of correction. However, we are already seeing increased activity in attempts to keep their stock high. WH stuff, pro-Tesla influencers pushing hard on the Robotaxi thing (most recently I have seen people claiming that a Robotaxi would generate $35k a year, making its purchase price of $30k a sure-fire investment opportunity! If thats the case, I have a Nigerian Prince that I would love you to meet!). Fully expect to see more and more bold claims in an attempt to pump the stock before the quarterly results. Will this work? No idea, but I expect to see desperation setting in though.

It’s defending the truth not Trump.

I think it so weird to defend a fake tweet that supports a narrative instead of using the ample evidence out there that is real. If you want to stand on the honor hill, you have to be honorable. Unfortunately for all of us, it has been demonstrated there is no honor in politics. But, just because they have normalized inventing facts by writing them down to support their point, doesn’t mean we should accept it or copy it.

Over the last few years I’ve seen the general population become comfortable with lying. If you want to hold yourself to a higher standard, you have to maintain that standard.

Alternatively, you could hold your hands up and admit you fell for a joke.
Totally agree. We’ve had years and years of being told that ‘many people’ are saying xyz about Trump and now Musk and it’s a random Twitter account or a news article that says something completely different, fake tweets, satirical tweets posted as fact etc etc.

No one else gets a free pass for these kinds of mistakes, let alone continually doing it.

Musk led sackings found illegal

A second federal judge has ordered the mass reinstatement of fired federal workers, reversing the terminations of probationary employees at 18 major agencies.

Both judges concluded that the trump administration used false allegations of “performance” issues as a pretext to justify the large-scale firings and ignore legally mandated procedures for slimming the workforce.

It's not going well for GOP members who do hold town halls. Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) had a town hall today in Ashville. He faced people angry at the sackings and job losses.

It feels very much like Musk is speedrunnng his way to becoming an MBA case study in how not to run a business.

It’s really funny watching DOGE try to claim it’s just some advisory committee unrelated to Musk, as trump and Musk himself claim Musk is in charge, promote all the faked cuts they claim Musk has made...

Musk really doesn't like being unpopular.

With Amy Gleason in place as acting DOGE chief, Musk would be potentially shielded from some legal responsibility and questions about conflicts, experts say.

One person who has been in meetings with Gleason said, “I get the sense that Amy is in the role of scapegoat.”

They'll have no difficulty providing lots of minutes of meetings she has attended where she's made all these important decisions and memos she's sent to her minions actioning all of them afterwards. Or not, as the case may be.

Quite incredible the lengths that scapegoats are willing to stick their necks in nooses for a bit of power/money/glory (delete as appropriate)

I do wonder what sort of mindset it takes to actually take a job like the one Amy Gleason is supposedly doing. It's clear as day who is calling the shots - blimey, even trump is being explicit about it. Yet formally there's flat denial of any organisational link or accountability to musk.

She must be being paid an absolute fortune to be the obvious fall guy for this. I just don't understand why anyone would take the job otherwise.

Oh, and of course, there will be no minutes of any decisions.

I don't think that will really cut it if the democrats ever get another majority in congress; she'll be getting dissected on CSPAN, interrogation as a bloodsport.
