It seems the International Criminal Court, has now declared Putin a war criminal.
That's f*cked his chances of ever getting a decent sun bed by the pool in Ibiza, any time in the future!

He didn't exactly travel to western Europe that much anyway, or South America etc., so I doubt he'll be bothered that much.

China, India, Turkey, parts of East Africa, Libya, Indonesia, Burma, and the 'stans etc., which he's more likely to visit anyway all still not a problem for him to visit.
I don't think he's likely to be travelling outside of RF much anyway in future, even without this ICC warrant.

I thought the court wanted to give him one of those fair trial thingies. I also thought that he's innocent until proven guilty.

He might be an absolute piece of crap but if we want to claim to be better than him then we need to act better than him, starting with fair trial rather than the Russian style of prosecution.

What are you on about? They've issued an arrest warrant not sentenced him. The trial tends to come after arrest.

Arrest > Trial > Sentence

I understood his post to be exactly on about this.

Does anyone actually believe that Putin will ever see the inside of the international criminal court?

Elvis is more likely to land on the White House lawn in Doc Brown's Delorean, as I see it.

I'm on about the fact that the ICC hasn't declared him a criminal, they've declared him a suspect, aka "the accused". HTH

Didn't the Russians hijack a plane so they could arrest a dissident a while back?
Maybe we could ask the US to arrange for this to happen to Putin next time he gets in a 'plane to go anywhere...

Belarus.

But likely with a lot of FSB help.

Israel's Mossad are the masters of going in and abducting someone from under the noses of the locals. Maybe if we asked them nicely.

My view too. Zero chance unless there are extraordinary developments.

These aren't ordinary times. Remember Milošević?

I was thinking about Millsevic as I wrote my previous post, but imo, the two aren't comparable.

Putin's resources alone puts him into a different league to Millsevic.

President Xi is visiting Putin in Moscow next week.
Hopefully he tells him to stop being a Pratt and to get his army out of Ukraine.
Somehow I doubt it though.
I think the former.

Get the flock out of UKR, you are an embarrassment.

Xi flying in to visit his gangsta mate who has been issued with an arrest warrant...stay classy, China.

Perhaps China will spin this as a peace mission when it's really about China hoovering up cheap natural resources.

Random thoughts:

Putin isn't actually denying these crimes. Clearly the evidence is sound.

Russia's immediate reaction to the arrest warrant tells us clearly it *is* meaningful to them. It matters. (They even added it to their list of demands for peace talks.)

This is a bit leftfield, but the Hague is one way Putin can leave power without being dead or ending up in a Russian prison. If he can get himself to the Hague he will die of old age after a safe, comfortable retirement writing his memoirs. That may not appeal to him - I'd grasp it with both hands.
