It is of course now very clear that the additional cameras were ordered before the public consultation was even commenced which shows how Sadiq Khan and TfL never had any intention of listening.

Of course they ordered the cameras in advance- their ideas are so good that they knew they would have almost universal support.

Only if people comply.

Some folks have taken more direct action.

At a guess - at least 90% of vehicles comply anyway. Those that make a stand will be part of a small minority from the outset. I don't agree with the ULEZ plan, by the way. But my car does comply.

For now it does.

Wait until they start moving the goalposts.

So what was the turnout?

I didn’t see anything on the news and judging by the anger on here and elsewhere I’d expect thousands to have turned up and make themselves heard.

My guess is that they will move them at the same pace i.e. so 90% comply anyway. Just a guess mind.

Though I say that as someone that wants to buy another petrol-only car fairly soon so I am taking a risk.

Khan has already set out his stall in a proposal document - this is the thin end of the wedge. Eventually all vehicles will be charged for driving in greater London, even EVs.

Brown Car Guy did a vlog of the protest - looked like a reasonably large turnout.

Yours and many other cars may be OK now, but do you really think that's the end. It's only a matter of time before all vehicles will be paying, I really think any scrappage scheme is a con.

Ridiculously my 2005 Volvo, 25 mpg gas guzzler complies, but a Nissan Micra 1 litre, similar vintage, does not.
Fortunately I rarely drive to the Smoke

My Vito dualiner v6 diesel will be charged in Newcastle, it’s my car as far as I’m concerned as it has 5 seats and is never used for any sort of business. If I had a merc glc or s class with the same engine, gearbox and emissions it wouldn’t be. The whole thing is a nonsense.

I strongly suspect that:

(a) the anger on here and other online platforms does not represent the views of the wider public or at least the people who actually live in the ULEZ area;

(b) because a very large proportion of the angry don't actually live in London it's too far for them to want to travel to a protest; and

(c) many of the angry are of the age where sitting on the sofa in their slippers is far more appealing than standing outside in the rain for hours.

Loads of petrol-heads and classic car enthusiasts in the video above. Not angry people at all, very rational and calm .. quite the opposite of Sadiq's Khan performances in the GLA.
