Soho Rd is lawless. I had the joy of working nearby for 5 years.

I was once overtaken by someone who was towing a fridge behind their car. The fridge was strapped to a pallet that was just sliding along the road hehe

I suspect I'm the only person to have ever driven down it that actually has a licence.

Makes you wonder why the police aren't there regularly.

The reality of funding cuts is that fewer problems are caught before they become serious - In the case of the NHS cuts reduce the instances of serious problems being caught nice and early (as part of regular screening and more availability of appointments for people to get things checked instead of thinking "I can't sit on hold for another hour only to be told there's no appointments, I've got a job"). In the case of the Police the cuts mean they can't do anywhere near as much proactive / prospective policing.

I can't imagine this was the first time this twunt drove that car like that, it was just the first time his luck ran out. If we had more police about, he might have been stopped a different time and given words of advice or a small penalty instead of getting bummed in the prison showers. Everyone is a winner, apart from whoever his prison shower buddy would have been.

Probably because there's about 5 police to go around the whole of Birmingham and Soho Rd isn't the only dodgy place.

When I see things like this I feel we need another category of offence for them to be prosecuted with.
It's so far beyond what is acceptable that it's an offence against the very fabric of our society.

Similar to how the looters in 2011 were treated more harshly.
The driver could be charged with vehicular manslaughter instead of causing death by dangerous driving. Carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Wasn't there some talk about increasing the sentence for CDbDD ?

I don't think we need a new offence. I think we need to increase the sentences for the current offence. I'd also like to see twuntish driving being punished by the car being seized and crushed.
That sounds almost like a Proceeds Of Crime action, a good idea no matter how costly or otherwise the car involved may be.
