I don't think that most of those events are linked, and will be random isolated incidents (it does highlight that we have crime and social problems).

I do think there is a link between the army officer stabbing and the armed police incident at Manchester airport, I have no doubt that thse would have fueled anger amongst far right groups.

Then the children being stabbed in Southport shocked the country, queue social media posts saying he was a migrant and the far right quite literally exploded with anger hence we are seeing these riots.

There is a real danger this could spread like the Mark Duggan riots in 2011.
I thought the link was that we'd lost our grip on scrotes and they no longer fear punishment. I also thought the government really undermined the police in recent weeks, but truthfully it's all happened before. Maybe it's just the weather.

Might help people with context if the OP stated the actual source of the post.

It's from the stabbings thread. (But I've since read it and removed three items that were only civil disobedience if you squint a bit.)

OP copies & pastes a Matt Goodwin substack. Matt Goodwin is a university lecturer who has travelled from leafy academia to full blown far right agitprop stirrer. He now sits in the same category of social arsonists along side Tice, Oakeshott, Farage, Tommy ten names, Crafty Grimes & all the other grifters, fomenting unrest, inciting violence, pretending to love the country while hating it in plain sight.

And it works, here we are on page two of a thread about rioting & up to now, no one's thought to question the source the op lifted. They rely on supine acceptance & find it by the bucket load and before you can say legitimate concerns, our vulnerable children are being protected by pissed up patriots burning down police statiions.

Perhaps these so called protestors, would have a lot more credibility if they didn’t turn up after spending hours in the pub and a carrier bag of warm Stella’s.

It is quite a short journey from anywhere to being the most far right person some can imagine these days.

We need some control on immigration. But these rabbles aren’t disenfranchised because of immigration, they are disenfranchised because of their own attitudes and actions.

If we didn’t have immigrants working and paying taxes, these morons would have no one to pay their benefits or treat them in A&E after they have got into a fight.
Why do we need some control on immigration if it's all people paying benefits and providing medical care?

It would be interesting to discuss why the riots are happening, such as what if any connection they have to immigration and racial tensions.

Attacking the OP and 'the list' isn't interesting at all.

The riots are happening and more appear to be likely. Why?

Oh good...President Merkin enters the chat.

Let me ask you lot this...you sneer at anyone trying to discuss social issues constantly, you've diluted the term Racist so much it's now meaningless, but still use it anyway. You think you're beyond reproach...but is it remotely possible your actions are the very reason people get angry?
Do you think Starmer's response helped at all? Do you think the BBC employing the tactics listed are helping?
You keep poking the Dog, eventually it'll bite you.

There really are problems in this country. Just the fact there were 18 stabbings in 48 hours this week should raise an eyebrow. At some point we need to have an adult conversation about it.

The list is a bad way to start it, considering almost nothing of those was a big riot before, and it’s very clear the big ones people will think of is the racist thug ones. Ironically the list labels every nationality/colour as being immigrants apart from the white thugs which is the major one.

Lots of people saying this is down to years of repressing immigration issues. I’d hazard a guess it is just as much down to years of repressing football hooligan fights. Those involved wanting to go back to fighting the police and now it’s got enough mass behind it they’re able to find enough people at once to have a good brawl and riot.
Almost...

What has the prisoner release got to do with anything? That was something which was due to happen under the Tories, but postponed because they called the election.
You could add the explanation that it's happening because of underinvestment in prison capacity by the previous government?

On one hand I think it’s just low rate thugs, and many are.

but

I do sort of understand where the anger is born out of. People are struggling to make sense of a changing country that is ultimately a lot poorer than how they consider it in their minds eye. People at the pointy end of wealth inequality, lack of investment, lower wages and demographic change due to heavy immigration, the feeling that their opinions are shouted down as wrong etc etc.

There is a lot of anger out there waiting for a catalyst. People trying to apply logic to the particular catalyst are a bit naive.

On July 15th, we learned London’s Metropolitan Police had not solved a SINGLE petty crime -burglary, car theft, phone theft- in three years, across 166 areas.
is this true? I mean it's hardly surprising given the auto resolution of any report and subsequent issuing of a reference number, but surely they accidentally solved just 1?

Nutshell.
