One of my favourite things is Left leaning types/Democrats championing what amounts to slave labour when complaining about the impact of illegal immigrants getting deported, on their fking crop picking.

"Oh no, who will pick my crops now that I can't pay some illegal guy $2.00 per hour" - I get that paying your workers a fair wage (at least federal minimum) has the potential to be inflationary but jesus christ anything less shouldn't be happening in a developed country let alone the "greatest" country on earth(tm)!
It's astonishing.

I assume if Mexico continue to refuse the migrant flights then Trump will threaten some hefty tariffs on Mexican imports.

And? Mexico doesn't pay the tariffs.

I think that might have been CF's point.

Where as the right think that removing the people that keep food prices low will somehow make a large pool of people take up picking those things at the same price as the ones that just left.

The federal minimum wage is like 7 dollars and something and hasn't been increased since 2009. There is your problem. Rich people getting richer off the backs of cheap labour, be it US or otherwise workers. Race to the bottom in the US.

Seasonal / Crop workers are definitely a thing in California and have been for decades.

Their trade surplus is equal to something like 10% of their GDP. It won't just be US companies outsourcing for cheap labour that would get a bit twitchy.

What a weird way to look at that.

This will be another 'Build the Wall' scenario ie make a big song and dance early on, a few carefully selected high profile cases covered, Trumpy announces it as a great success, faithful happy that he's fulfilled his promise, actual removals quietly fizzle out under pressure from vested interests in keeping cheap labour. Job done, what a guy.

Very little of what he has done so far has anything to do with "making America great again" it's all window dressing.

I'm looking to the fallout on tariffs and what deporting immigrants illegal or otherwise will mean to the cost of product to those who are struggling to make ends meet today.

A simple example is the cost of packaged beer and cigarettes, most of the aluminium in the US does or at least did come from Canada, put a price on that and the foil in cigarette packs and beer cans goes up.

Deport all the field and building labourers who were working at less than the minimum wage, suddenly produce doesn't get picked, bricks don't get laid or the price goes up by a large margin if US citizens are prepared to do the work.

The only way to force locals into menial underpaid labour is to remove all social security benefits and suddenly the dribbling, toothless Billy Bob who thought Trump was a saviour will have different plans come November 2026 if not before when he drags his weapon off the rack and knocks his local representative off.

The rich will get richer and those less well off will be trodden underfoot
Wasn't one of the first lot of executive orders signed by him to remove the price cap on prescription medicines.
Nope, he removed bidens policy to insert his own. The same way biden removed Trump's. It's just basic maneuvering to get their name on the winning policy.

Not entirely correct - https://www.ajmc.com/view/trump-reverses-some-bide...
He cancelled some programs in development which were intended to reduce drug costs and hasn't launched replacements.

But he did produce Barron so he can claim he donated some height.

I expect in years to come it'll transpire that Barron underwent lengthening treatment to make the family look better. It'll become even more obvious when he's over 9 ft by 25.

And Democratic height is actually 20% lower than red blooded Americans due to reduced morals, patriotism and cojones so he's actually shorter despite appearances.

They are only going for darker skinned people, they ignore the white immigrant workers in factories and just grab the "foreign looking ones"

It's only what member countries pay for their own military, so maybe Donald should cut US Military spending to be more in line with other NATO countries, he could spend the excess cash on much needed social services and care for the people, rebuilding devastated areas from fire, floods and hurricanes and rejuvenate run down cities like Detroit. But no, the USA is a mad military machine it would never do anything like that, but if they want to spend that much they can, but we don't have to.
The 2% figure is what NATO heads of State agreed last year. Current US defence spending is 3.45% of GDP; if the US were to reduce it to 2%, the rest of NATO would have to increase defence spending to at least 4% of GDP to make up for that.
