You may be right, but it is most certainly a concern for them. If they actually targetted known and "proven" racial groups it would just not be allowed. Instead they must take a representative sample to fine, however all the statistician out there will know this is only good for averages and what use is that. In Six Sigma you target the problem area and its something the police should do. Economics shouldnt come into it.

If they do this and the stats change to prove my demographic is at fault I would not question being pulled over, but then I would make sure I was legal in the first place.

pakistanis/Bangladeshis and Indians are vastly different people. Never confuse the two.

This is reflected in the their economic status pretty much everywhere they have chosen to settle in the world.
The Indians have made money and got on with their lives.
And the pakistanis/Bangladeshis have languished and struggled at the bottom.

There is a VERY controversial theory put forward in many cirlces about why this is so. It relates to which types of people converted to Islam during Moghul rule to escape the caste system, and during the splitting up of India, subsequently became pakistani.... and how the comparison of the relative performance of the two people today is attributable to the "quality" of their ancestor converts many years ago....
This is total and utter bullst, I know numerous rich pakistanis. The two cultures are very similar and share the same poor work ethic.

The reason pakistanis here are percieved to be poor is essentially "Mangla Damn", that's they are generally uneducated, go to India and you will find the exact same uneducated people, the difference is they haven't chosen to go and live abroad. When mangla damn was built lots of villagers emigrated to the UK as they had lost their homes, Britain needed people, these people were without homes.

Go to the USA and see pakistanis there, they are generally better educated and richer, this is because they didn't move there as they had lost there homes, more they are professionals looking for a job.
Indian and pakistani culture are similar??? LOL err.. dont think so - they're POLES APART. The work ethics are utterly different and based deeply on the founding principals on which the two nations were created in 1949. These founding principals are carried through to the state of the two nations today AND the behaviour of their citizens:

A mono-ethnic pakistan blowing itslef to smithereens fighting inside instability, and islamic miltancy at every turn, currently led by Mr 10% after a load of corrupt generals and effectively in state of civil war in waziristan VS A secular, democratic, peaceful India where a Hindu majority has an elected a Sikh prime minister, a muslim president (has over 200M muslims residents) and is growing at 8% a year. (and sadly it's only threat is it's neighbour)

The reality of that fraud city list was that most of those areas have a very large pakistani population. The point I was trying to make is that pakistani is NOT the same as Asian which is NOT the same Indian.
This debate could rapidly descend into a nasty pi55ing match. So I'll stop here. Many of the "rich" pakistanis I've met are into VAT Fraud, drugs, bootleg booze and the rest. Indians are hardly angels either. There are MANY exceptions and certainly no race is superior or better. (like I said these are controversial THEORIES).

But
a) the people are different....
b) the cultures are different
c) the behaviour of the people (wherever they are) is different.
d) ...because the countries are massively different
e) and the two races should NEVER be confused with each other or equated.

If they were all the same, then there was no need for the creation of pakistan and Bangladesh in the first place.
The cultures aren't poles apart, they eat pretty much the same food, they talk the same language, in fact they were one country until very recently, but I will stop here too as I think all Indians are wkers.

so indians speak the same language, eat the same food were from the same country ,millions of them are the same religion as you and you hate them, you are a very strange person
I think (hope) he was being sarcastic.

This Indian pakistani thing is silly. Yes the stereotypes may well hold true in the UK but then you go somewhere like America and find their pakistani immigrants are just as educated and well to do as their Indian counterparts. Maybe this has something to do with the American's only letting in skilled/wealthy immigrants.

Then you look at somewhere like Canada and find the recent Indian immigrants from Punjab (and to a lesser extent Tamil Nadu) sitting at the lower end of the socio-economic ladder. Religious and inter caste violence is also rife within the Canadian Indian community.
Hang on, which one of you is the racialist here... wink

The Chinese spinny tat was added as a bit of a joke at the end.

I would even go as far as to divide Asians into typical 'pakistani muslims' and 'Indians'. The cultures between these two groups of people is vastly different it seems.

In my area at least, the Indian people are kind, gentle, well educated and are a real credit to their nation.
The pakistanis/Bangladeshis etc are seemingly the ones that have the issues when it comes to crime and lack of tolerance/respect.

I believe this is due to the fact that the pakistanis were brought in for menial work in the textile factories of which there are many. They were low educated people from villages in the Kashmir etc, which are not as tolerant and open to other cultures.
This is fine when you live in somewhere that runs as you expect, but ship them to low income areas of the UK and its a bit different.

In addition to this, now they are stuck in a cultural cul-de-sac. I speak with lots of Asians and they say that they are rejected back in pakistan for almost being traitors with their Western lifestyles and yet here they are rejected for their Asian lifestyles and as such they take joy in intentionally not integrating somewhat.

Its just like when us Northerners go to London. We act extra northern, just to let the southerners know we are not one of them.

To sum the immigration situation up (as far as my part of the world in West Yorks goes), it would be akin to shipping over a load of stereotypically council house residents to pakistan. A potential recipe for disaster.

(I realise I may have gone somewhat off topic)

ETA: Why does PH automatically set all instances of the work pakistan to lower case?

YOU have hit the nail on the head. The so called 'Kashmiris' don't even integrate in pakistan. Over there they call themselves Kashmiris not pakistani which is a little peeving to hear. They are actually MP (Mirpuri) people and blatantly the stain of the pakistani lot in UK. Compare UK pakistanis to US versions and the difference is blatantly clear.
