That's 2 in a month or so, isn't it? Not good.

What is the point of these car bombs. Is it just attention seeking. I mean if they wanted to kill a few people they wouldn't phone the local police before the bomb goes off and give them the post code of the abandoned car. I'm really struggling to understand the logic of these bombers.

Thats about the size of it. They're stuck between a thick rock and a dense hard place. They see any political settlement short of a 32 county Irish Republic, with them in government, as a sellout. To them 'the war' in Northern Ireland is not over. They want to continue fighting 'the Brits', but know that any casualties they cause results in political opprobrium, a security crackdown and possibly a massive shoeing from the Provisional IRA.

They've been busy boys though. Only the bombs that explode recieve any coverage on the mainland. They have had plenty of serious attempts in the past few years that have been rendered safe, but they hardly ever make the news.
