Looking good Skeeterm5. Are you going to fill the hole where the capped off pipes are? If so then I think it's recommended that the pipes are wrapped so that any concrete doesn't come into direct contact with the copper pipe. I'm sure Google will help with ideas for materials as I might be out of date with that.

Horrible weather, so I got on taking photos and loading adverts for various bits of excess guitar gear I've been meaning to advertise. Savings rates definitely due to rise as I've set up a 5 year fixed bond this afternoon too. biggrin I've got a week to put the money in, so if anything changes in the next few days I could just leave it empty and start another one, but I think I'd better just bite the bullet and get things done.

Son and wife due to go out this evening, so I think I'll make a noise while they are both out. smile Should have been rehearsing with the band, but that's all gone sideways for now, so I'll just keep up the practice...

Instead of posting on PH, shouldn't you be cracking on? beer
Yes indeed.

First part of the job done. Old radiator pipes that didn’t go anywhere successfully cut off and capped. Heating back on and all seems well.

I used a freeze kit for the first time, the water mark you can see is because the first pipe didn’t freeze, I don’t think I used enough stuff. The second pipe was frozen nicely.

Tomorrow I have two more pipes, a hot and cold feed to a sink to deal with but feeling confident with that.
Well done. clap now time for beer

Thanks.

I wasn’t planning to cover them as we think we will most likely put a run of units along that wall. That was one reason I wanted to cap them so close to the tee, it means that the caps would be behind the plinth.

Having said that, our plans change like the wind, so maybe I will be covering them. smile

I know what you mean about changing plans. biggrin My projects tend to drift a bit from the original and 'evolve' a bit during the process.

Off out shortly on a road trip with some friends: He had a big birthday recently and his wife has given him so money to buy a new bass guitar...we're helping him spend it. biggrin I'll keep my card safe and try not to join in with the spending though. biggrin

Thought we would have a day off from kitchen work today. The weather was ok so took a drive out into the hills

A spot of lunch and then a long winding route home. Car now parked on a newly tidied area outside the top barn.

And now back home, cup of tea and fire - the perfect day?

Most certainly the perfect Sunday i'd say.

Car looks great and those views make driving worth while unlike the roads we have to contend with in the S/E of England which i'm sure you remember.

Be good to have the car tucked away in one of those barns

I spent all day getting the bar ready for bbq season. Also have family coming over on Tuesday, so I had to get a move on.

Happy retirement beer

That looks really fab.

Looks like a venue has been found for the earlier suggested meet of this thread's regulars!

Your more than welcome to call for a few beers, when in the area. Shnozz who's posted on this thread, has had a few good sessions in the bar.

That's a cracking place you've got their Mart. beer

I'm having some bad nights lately; combination of waking up for the 4am bathroom trip, but then backache preventing me from getting back to sleep. Eleventh hour worries about whether I'm doing the right thing(s) with my inheritance not helping either I suppose. Consequently had a few days of feeling tired out and not up to doing much. Hope to get back on form again soon...just shows that health/how you feel is more important if it prevents you from getting on enjoying retirement. smile

I'd like to thank Longy for his excellent post a while back explaining crystallising the funds in your pension pot. I'd pasted it into a document at the time and re-read it again over the weekend and it's helped it really sink in how it works, which has countered some worries I have about locking too much of the inheritance away. beer

Happy retirement beer
Opened my bar up for the first tme this year on sunday.
I'd forgotten how chilled I am when I'm sitting in there.
Next job is to reopen the brew shed and make some more beer made, as some of the kegs must be getting low now

G&Ts, talk of beer/brewing and I've been enjoying a sunny afternoon in Berkshire sorting out a bit more of my garage ready for (hopefully) the last tip run for a while. Off out shortly for a meal with an old band mate who has also retired, plus my neighbour who hasn't. I'm driving, but we had a drink last night as it was Mrs OS' birthday yesterday.

95% of my financial shuffling has been done today (cue the interest rates going up on fixed bonds now biggrin ). We've had a ball park figure for our solar install from our Son in law and it's a pleasant surprise. Only negative today is no call back from the dealer selling a Mito I fancy, but others are available. smile
