Got this account set up and went to transfer my savings from Chase - the withdrawal was blocked and I received a text message asking me to call them urgently due to suspicious activity. Been on hold for over 1.5 hours so far banghead
That's an arse. I also transferred in from Chase, they have a 35k limit but no issue. Not a high roller but will take a few days to empty Chase, savings are mostly for a house extension. Santander did it to me the other way, don't know of its random or some sort of algorithm that picks up a transaction that sticks out compared to the usual account activity.

Signed up here too, many thanks.

Had been getting 31 quid a month interest at Chase, this should take it up to 57 pcm.

That interest rate is significantly higher than my mortgage with no exposure to risk. I’ve never been in this situation before.

Same, thanks for heads-up, Chase user here also, so will move some over when it's all been finalised.

Same here - Chase are missing the boat here.

Amazing how easy it is to move funds these days smile

I took a £10k Santander car loan out for numerous reasons a few months ago fixed at 2.7%. I figured that I would also keep my own cash at hand maybe £120 k in case everything imploded financially. I’m going to open one up as if I move £20k. across I’ve effectively borrowed their money for free.

I’ve just opened one too, thanks for the tip. Also I’ve just noticed my Barclays banking are offering 5.12% on balances up to 5k on their rainy day saver. So I’ve just maxed that out. Big improvement on the 0.15% I was getting.

Ohh. Business account is with Barclays. What’s the deal on their offering?

Edit: had a look: £5k limit on interest payment and only available to Barclays blue account holders, which I’m not. I’ll make do with the Santander offering.

opened a similar product with first direct the other day - 3.5% and £300 pm max
They are offering a regular e-saver with the same 2.75% too (not to be confused with this one) which is 2.75% from £1 to 250k.
First direct?

Do you have a link?

likely because the money is going to a new account and maybe they can't verify or find the account.

Santander have launched an instant access E-Saver with 2.75% interest, paid monthly or annually if anyone is interested.

I had some savings in Chase and was going to move to Charter bank who were offering 2.38% but ID had to be copied and counter signed and sent in the mail which is too much like hard work these days.

Already a customer so took <1 min to apply and have the account ready to pay in.
Thanks a311, that's a really good find. I was looking yesterday for somewhere to put some money and I didn't spot this. My wife and I have accounts at Santander so was really painless to apply/setup for us.

Thx
