These are great. Mine has lasted well, excellent build quality. Managed to fit it in the back of my old Audi Q7 with a couple of mm to spare!!
Picked one up earlier this year, think it was £699 in store. Decent discount on the Web price of £850?

Got it in the back of the x5, very tight.

It's like those Facebook ads for a fully loaded new tool chest for £80
On a similar note, I am actually interested in getting something along these lines. I do have a roll cab and top box downstairs in my garage currently. It can be annoying going up and down the stairs to my workbench and also going downstairs for tools. So I plan on getting another toolkit without the top box to use downstairs on the garage floor and then move my current toolkit upstairs and integrate it into my main bench as part of my plans to rejig my work areas (I sound like a business, its just my house laugh )

So I keep stumbling along these chests and tools for around £500 which would be ideal as it will give me a small workspace on top downstairs as well. Also my current toolbox is highly disorganised and I have attempted to arrange everything but it never sticks. Compared to the Facom toolchest in work which has all the inserts and locations clearly marked which I like.

So this morning these adverts started popping up again and this one company caught my eye, but there are a few of these companies about selling similar boxes.

Now I have the tool chest on order I am thinking about how to store tools inside the chest… anyone used this? https://www.shadowfoam.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw5dqgBhBN...

Seen it on Colin Furze YouTube channel and looks pretty decent way to keep things organised, but seeing if anyone else used it?

To be honest unless you're somewhere where you want to be easily able to spot & track what tools might be out of your kit, or you're a neat freak, that stuff just wastes a load of space you could fit more tools in.

If you just want to be organised you could just put things into the drawers in a tidy way? Or use containers & dividers in the drawers.

I've tried all that stuff. IMVHO for day to day tools, nothing works better than a sheet of 8x4 with screws in to hang all your most common tools on.
And then the tool chest for less frequently used stuff.

Those look nice. I am always a little wary of ads that pop up on Facebook. Lots of iffy looking ones. That one seems to have had the domain name registered for a couple of years and the certificate was renewed more than 3 months ago so probably OK. I would look for similar on eBay or Amazon before committing though.

Yeah I tried this for electronics gear.

It worked for about 5 mins until I bought one new tool. Where can it go?
Another month another tool.
Within 6 months it’s all just a big mess of bits in various boxes, a messy new bits box, etc.

It’s probably great for people who have a really very stable toolkit.

Halfords sell sets of tools in foam modular tray inserts for their drawer units. I’m waiting to see if their Easter sale brings any bargains. Though I have wondered about if I ever wanted to add a tool!!

I have several of these modular sets. They don't fit snugly inside the Halfords tool chests (which I also have), so there's space for additional tools.

Yeah, I have this problem as I buy a new tool, then after several new tools, I need a new toolbox.... Then after some time I have several mismatched toolboxes.

Then I have to build a wall for them......

(Temporary labels on the drawers in that picture).

And there is also a problem with the tool-board solution as well....

I bought one of these last year from facebook for around £400 I think - it's all really neatly packaged and ensures I put things back so I can find them again! I can move it around the garage easily so works better than a peg board for me (I also needed a load of new basic tools anyway). The quality is good enough for serious DIY, I don't think I'd want to be relying on it for professional use though

Homebase of all places had sets of imperial Thorsen spanners 5/16 to 7/8 for £7. I bought 2 sets and they have been the absolute mainstay for 8 years now.

I wish I had bought the lot as theyre superb in the hand. Polished chrome and beautiful, totally not what you expect from a DIY store and I havent seen any Thorsen spanners for sale like them anywhere since.

Google tells me that it has not been mentioned in this thread so far, so I am going to nominate the "Silky Pocket Boy" folding saw - it lives in my mountain biking backpack all winter and is great for cutting up branches that have fallen across the trail. I have the 17cm version, which is good for branches up to 10cm thick, but they do much bigger versions for people who aren't carrying them "just in case".

Silkys are ace. I have the pocketboy and the gomboy. Much better than the laplanders I've had. They're pull saws which really helps

Another tool I picked up at the weekend that I've been after for a while, a handtruck. Useful for moving stuff around, had a small one and a dolly but was limited with moving some of the bigger or heavier things around that I needed. Now have a Gemini Magliner Jr, what a cracking bit of kit it is. Switches from a 2 wheel handtruck to a 4 wheel one. Easily carted my three kids around the patio and drive :-)

Quick bit of advice folks, and apologies if this is the wrong thread, but I've got a few jobs coming up that are going to involve drilling small holes in brick to mount cameras, door numbers etc. I've got a Bosch EasyImpact 550 which sort of do es the job, but easily loses grip on the drill bit and goes no further, so I'm looking at something a bit more heavy duty.

I'd rather stick with Bosch green if possible as I already have a couple of chargers and batteries I can reuse - anyone know if the below will do the trick as a Do Anything (short of demolition work) drill?

https://www.bosch-diy.com/gb/en/p/universalhammer-...

I've already got a set of the Bosch Professional drill bits, do I assume I'm going to need some SDS bits for this?
