We've got a 7 y/o timber frame house that was built in modules in the factory then assembled on site. In our case, the location of all the electrical sockets and services in the walls were specified in advance, the relevant holes were made in the factory and pull-strings left to help with installing cables.

The house is very energy efficient, our bills being quite a bit less than our previous traditional house, for a property that's at least 50% larger. Stud wall construction everywhere does make it a bit noisier than a house with solid walls, but a lot of "traditional" new builds now seem to have stud walls anyway. I've got the full plans so I know exactly where all the studs are, which is helpful when DIYing. The plasterboard is all 18mm which makes it feel a bit more solid than the normal thinner stuff.

My personal preference would actually be for concrete floors throughout, and full block/brick construction, but given that wasn't available when we were moving last, we're happy enough with the giant prefab we ended up with smile

This is a photo (actually from a different house) that shows how the walls were delivered. The membrane is already there, and the final section of plasterboard is installed on site.
