Hypnos Mattresses are they worth the hype?
Discussion
The missus wants a new bed in our soon to be new build home. We’ve settled on size (super king) now it’s down to a choice of what mattress we have. We’ve been around all the shops and to be honest it’s a bit of a minefield, the Hypnos ones we tried seemed to be the better out of the lot from the brief time we spent on top of it. So I was wondering if anyone had any experience of Hypnos? They seem to be pricier than the rest but I’m not too fussed about that as comfort is key.
I've had two, a king and a super king (both different models) and both were/are mega comfy. Sold the super king pillow top with the house and miss it, but the king one I've got now is still very good. Can't comment on value as I got staff discount from my brother who worked for them at the time...they've got an outlet on ebay which can yield bargains if you're not tied to anything mega specific, called something like Crendon furniture outlet.

Interesting, I didn't realise that. In planning on visiting their showroom near Derby soon as I want to buy on of their supering sized mattresses. Not sure whether to go for a zip linked mattress for ease of getting it up the stairs. http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/Crendon-Furniture-Outl...
Wondering if it makes sense to buy their divan base as well as a mattress? Our current divan is a few years old and cheap, but im not sure if that makes any difference?

If the mattress doesn't need a sprung edge base then the divan is basically just a raised platforn to get the mattress off the floor so I'd only replace it if you want one with a particular feature. I find the drawers in mine very useful.Mr Pointy said:

Thanks. Was never sure if having a sprung base was a sales con, you wouldn't think a mattress would need what is effectively another mattress between it, and the base. Im sure Hypnos would invalidate any 10 year warranty if their mattress wasn't on one of their bases, or of an equal spec. After a fair amount of research I went with an Origins 1500 from John Ryan as a close-but-better-than-hypnos alternative, and haven’t been disappointed https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/...

We have a Hypnos and I love it. Wife finds it a bit firm, but I’m almost double her weight so not surprising she gets a different sleep experience on it. That’s more about the model we have though, than the manufacturer. The quality is beyond doubt, it’s built like a tank.
The only problem was getting a super king size one up two sets of stairs to the loft conversion it’s in - damn it’s big and heavy!!

Very nice, I'm a little jealous. Care sharing the details please- where from, model, firmness, layers etc. Also did you buy one of their bases, or just the mattress?
Planing on a visit to their showroom soon, I'm considering a zip link super kingsize - half medium and half firm (for me)

Furniture Village
Model: Bespoke Luxury Divan set with ottoman storage.
Size: Super King
Firmness: Medium
Headboard: Mia Floor Standing
We were just going to buy the mattress and then sort out the rest either with a non Hypnos base at either that store or elsewhere but decided that we might as well get everything Hypnos as we were not exactly going to save a fortune mixing and matching.
We also purchased two Hypnos pillows whilst we were there.
