Is there a point where retaining 'character' gets in the way of living?

I would want to keep as much of the mill infrastructure as possible, even to the extent of being able to demonstrate it working. I suppose a lot of people just like the aesthetic of the old building but primarily want a house, so a varying level of compromise is reached.

Shipping container is alongside the house - left side of the main pic. Basically a small metal garage. I agree with you though, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to decorate that way, but it’s hardly ‘nightmare’, just someone else’s taste. And can be fairly easily changed.
It is more easily seen on Google maps:

No problem with the mill bits. Not so keen on only being able to access bedroom 1 via bedroom 4, if I'm reading the floorplan right.

Oh yes, I see the shipping container now. Weird.

I think the other problem is "who owned this place before?"

To me it screams dodgy/ttty/chavvy character.

And the question I'd ask is does this person have enemies/friends that wont know he's moved and I'd be having to deal with dheads for a while.
Well that would definitely put in 'nightmare' category if the previous owners 'business associates' kept popping over for a 'chat'. biggrin

No there appear to be 3 (!) sets of stairs, one for Bed 1, one for Bed 2/ 3 and a third, im not sure where it goes?

Interesting street view history. Is that the same Aston he's had since 2012? Also, 2015 and 2016 views would indicated we've got a fellow traveller (in car terms) on our hands here.

In 2008 there is a clear view down the driveway to what appears to be a double garage at the rear of the house. In 2012 there seems to be a large wooden gate across the driveaway, followed by the metal container in future years.

£4 million, a zebra painted AK47, an incredibly cheap kitchen and a shipping container! What more could you want? laugh

To be fair, it'll need a full interior makeover, so its not the worst thing in the world. But you'll need to budget another 250k to do that. Which makes the asking price punchy

I also wonder if you couldn't build a single storey garage where that shipping container is quite easily. Its not in front of the neighbouring property front wall.

I must be going blind. Where's the shipping container? And I can't see any photos of the kitchen?

Other than that - it's white walls and wooden flooring. Everything else is just paintings that you just take off the wall?

This thread does amuse at times. I presume you lot must live in some incredible properties!

Blimey, I like it, but according to some of the comments I must be turning into a chavvy traveller!

Looks like there's a VW Phaeton down the side one year also. Aston, Triumph TR4, Phaeton. I Like this guy's motoring style, and I have to say some of his interior decor choices too, although not all of them.

Bedroom 1 is the attic room in pic 28, apparently accessed from bedroom 4 (pic 20) via a loft ladder.

The stairs in the kitchen go up to the living room above, and the stairs by the ground floor wc go up to beds 2/3.

Yep some of the interiour furnishing aren't to my taste & you're not buying them so hardly a nightmare, although the leather sofa looks like it's the one from Ikea oh the horror!!!!

Is it? Jesus. I'd better respond to that email I just got from Specsavers about an overdue eye test.

Ever wanted a house with it's own Sex Garage (tm).....(pic 14)

Wouldn't want to sit in those armchairs.

Perhaps they run Blind Date theme nights?

Very strange decor but will make a nice family home once again but probably needs a reasonable spend to do so.
