Barret Homes of course...
Classic Barratt builds, they forgot to fit the balconies on this one.

Not sure this is a total nightmare as such, there's quite a lot to like with the overall place/location.

It does look a bit like someone stripped a local monastery for fittings, then you get to the bathrooms!
And the kitchen was a "I want something different from the rest of the house".
It doesn't look quite so attractive from this angle.

fk that for a game of soldiers. That price should include planning, and the plot cleared. There's nothing worth saving apart from a couple of beams.

Because the PP is for a tiny, fairly stupid house.

Up for sale for more than a year now. Stuck in the corner of a farm field which was convenient for the guys business but now he’s selling up so the house is a stand alone.
I’ve just sold my house in East Lothian and I’m always scouring Right Move and that house always pops up when I search oldest listed first. It got planning permission back in 2011 and was subject to a s75 agreement that tied it to the adjacent business (the family park) as the owners accommodation, which is why it was allowed to be built on open countryside (it’s very difficult to build a single house in East Lothian in open countryside unless you can prove an operational requirement), but the condition must have been removed at some point.

Someone asked how it got planning permission…..

This kind of st is exactly why there's so little respect for council planning. S75 exists for a reason.

I agree with you in general terms regarding s75 agreements, but to be fair to ELC in this case, the Scottish Government changed its views on restricting use of rural properties a year after this permission was granted, which allowed the owner to come back 10 years later and successfully ask for it to be discharged.

I think on balance this fits "nightmare" over "pawn"

6 Ped Penthouse SW6
£4.5M
4 parking spaces

https://www.onthemarket.com/details/15998262/

Yes, it's enormous! 8000 square feet no less!

But it needs a full interior really to make it feel like a home. Feels like a film set!

Pic 5 contains a staircase to nowhere! And the view of the river in pic 25 doesn't exist anymore today due to other building work. And will probably be filled with another block in due course. I wonder how much asbestos in there too!

EDIT TO ADD

Same building. Albeit not the penthouse. Some full crazys live there in that block! laugh

Not a word in the description of the unusual removal of chunks of the walls. Weird indeed.

Interesting building, and an interesting proposition for someone with the vision and budget to realise it.
Hopefully it doesn’t just get chopped into apartment boxes.
Another risk is the development happening on the riverside - that could destroy the view and a chunk of the value.

I believe it is. A pulpit, or perhaps a lecturn (noting that in a secular setting it would be a lectern).
