Perhaps one for my predilections, but lusting hard over this.

It's not perfect, and needs work - but would give us everything we want, shame it's out of budget!

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/156580388

But land, workshops and ability to have a mini community of us, kids, SiL/BiL and my folks all with our own space would be very, very cool. Mrs Sway and SiL would gladly take over the cattery on site too!

For the scenario you describe it's cracking. Yes, needs updating, but loads of potential, and ready to use right now.

How busy is that A road? It's very close.

Won't be crazy busy, but it is an A Road.

Depends on where you're coming from and what you want. I've probably got a degree of misophonia so not typical

An A road would never be quiet enough for me to enjoy peaceful afternoons in the garden. The 'quieter' it is the more chance you have of folk ragging motorcycles up it. Sometimes loud intermittent noise is worse than a background hum. Mate lives near Matlock and even though the A6 is nearly a mile away, the swarms of fat accountants on Harleys farting their way up the valley would drive me nuts if I lived there. I know this is PH and live and let live and all that but I'd need a recce on nice Bank Holiday weekend to check it out.

Suspect if it was more secluded it'd be up to 50% more.

Yes, agreed. I was intrigued by the property as it's the kind of thing my sister and mother might be looking for, to indulge in a bit of pooling resources and multi-generational living. On the face of it, it's absolutely perfect for them (horsey tendencies etc). But I think the road kills it. I'll pass it on to them anyway, it's in the right sort of area for them.

Not many Pacific Coast Highway seafront properties will be coming up, that's for sure frown

But on the bright side, our American compadres will build back better, I'm sure.

I could cope with this - which the wife would love.

Well, it is sunny today - but a low of -5 degrees and a high of 3, plus an energy performance rating in band G.

Very odd layout - almost as though the 'main house' doesn't have a bathroom, and the 'annexe' shares the ensuite?

Jesus Christ. To think I'm probably going to spend similar in a few years on a modern 3-bedroom box in Berkshire.

I assume that this has already been posted?

This would do me very nicely. Not too big to be a massive pain to manage.

No idea how busy the A3102 is though.

I drive it to and from work every day, it's busy during the day but not crazily so and dead out of hours,
The entrance to the property is halfway up a hill so you'll have the odd cement mixer labouring up it and a biker or two at the weekend but the property is well screened from the road and I wouldn't say it would cause any problems.

We had friend down near Saint-Jean-d'Angély. It stayed warm quite late in the year

Lovely, but shared driveway with 3 other homes, a busy road and a landfill/plant hire cement site next door.

One of the very few places in London I'd even consider living (having grown up there!):

https://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbbsrsb...

Punchy, but cracking place in an area with a real 'village' vibe, with the added bonus iirc of having Kate Beckinsale as a near neighbour...

Pretty from the front, but an overextended warren of small rooms, and needing a load of updating and decoration. Seems mad money, but there we are.
