I wondered if anyone might have any ideas on this.

I have a 22 reg Ducati Supersport 950, bought 3 months ago 2nd hand when it had only done 350 miles. When it got to 625miles I expected the service light to come on as per previous Ducati. When it didn't, I checked the service log on the dashboard and it is saying next service due 2024/12/07 and/or 9000 miles.

I have spoken to Ducati Leeds where the bike originally came from (I bought it from Youles Triumph in Blackburn) and they had no idea how this could happen. The date & time set on the bike dash are correct, the bike was registered in 04/22 although seems it came off the Ducati production line in June 2021, neither date seeming to have any link to 2024/12/07.

I am booking it in to Preston Ducati for its 1st service and so they can have a look but wondered if anyone might have any ideas?

Did you buy it from a dealer?

Sounds like a pre reg / demo bike and they put the running in service on the bike.

Can you check the service record with Duc via the vin?

From a warranty pov I’d not run it past the running in service.

Checked the VIN with the Duc dealer and it has not had a service in the Ducati network. I bought it from a local Triumph dealer who had taken it as a p/ex, it has 1 owner prior to me, the bloke who bought it from Ducati Leeds.

Bit of a mystery... I had not realised the first service is supposed to be 1000km or 6 months, whichever comes first, had assumed it was 1000km hence had not done anything earlier.

Is the dash still going red when revved over 6000 rpm? (I think i remember it being about 6000rpm anyways)

I have a 2021 Monster+ and it didn't give me a service warning for the first 600 mile service and I took it in of my own accord, but the running in 'warning lights' were disabled at the same time that first service was done.

Thanks, did the dealer make any comment about the service light not coming on? You didn't by any chance look at the service date on the bike dash? As mentioned, mine says 2024/12/07 and 9k to oil service, which is a mystery,

No I never even thought of it to be honest, I just rode it until 600 miles then booked up the service. I wish they didn't have a service indicator on the dash at all to be honest. As the bikes get older it will be a complete nuisance especially if wanting to service them at home.

Next service being due on 7th December 2024 makes no sense unless the timing intervals are 9000 miles or two years on these Ducati’s?

Did you buy it after 7th December 2022 - are there any stamps in the service book?

Service manual says it should be 9000 miles / annually, I thought they were on a 2-year run but apparently not.

I don't mind an indicator but it should be possible to reset with dash button combinations.

KTM are OK for this but they don't give you a service book anymore, its all online.

It is a mystery, the service date does not tie in with the bike being registered in the UK (4 April 2022) or its manufacture date or when I bought it (from a Triumph garage so they would not have access to change it or indeed any reason to do so as it had only done 350 miles) and it has not had its first service yet.

I am also not totally sure if 2024/12/07 means 12th July or 7th December....

Apparently the first service should be 6 months or 625 miles, whichever comes first, but the service indicator only comes on at 625 miles not 6 months.

It will be booked in shortly at Ducati Preston so maybe they will have some ideas when the have run the diagnostics...

Unfortunately you don't even get a service book anymore for your stamps, all on the Ducati system..

I have a 2021 monster and streetfighter v4s
1st service is 625 miles light won’t come on until then , if you get the 1st service done early as I did on the monster (done at 600miles ) you have to pop back to get the service light switched off .
This only happens on the 1st service , I was told there is No way round this , it’s a mystery as to why your service light has not come on .
