Hi folks,

Recently joined the l405 club, I’ve always wanted/aspired to own one, and my god I adore it.

However, 2 things are bugging me and with my inexperience with this car, I would welcome your input:

1) Ride quality - on the motorway I’ve never experienced anything like it, the comfort, quietness of the cabin etc is astounding. However, on an A/B road, a small bump clearly unsettles the car creating quite a jiggle/reverberation.

I did see a comment on another thread suggesting this could be a result of the dynamic suspension but given all I’ve read of market leading ride, I wanted to validate

Lastly, I’ve noticed some side to side variation in terrain can cause it to almost wobble side to side?

2) Tickety tickety tickety noises….from the 4.4 behind the drivers side wheel near the bulk head. Is this normal or (think of it like loud injectors)?

Overall I’m incredibly happy with the car but would very much appreciate your guidance

Cheers
Chris

Get it onto 20"... The ride is much better. Though don't discount the notion that you could have some knackered dampers.

As for the clickety-click, if it's when you jump in and start her up, it might just be the relays under the passenger seat. The L405s are soooo quiet, you now start to hear the random background noises you could never hear before. hehe

I won’t be changing wheels, I love the ones on there tbh. I noticed towing today that it really dives into bends, I’m sure something is up.

Clickety noises are when running and from the outside drivers side so don’t think it’s relays tbh, it’s an engine noise

Yeah, difficult to diagnose via a forum. If it's on one side, have a listen around the exhaust system as it could potentially be the cat breaking up.

Basically everything you raise is par for the course on L405s.

They get surprisingly upset by sudden road imperfections, which can cause a shudder or jolt. The aluminium didn't help this, hence why the l460 has added some more steel back. The ride is excellent on good surfaces, but FFRRs have always had a bit of a weird damping.

There is a DRS reset trick involving the car dancing, but I think it's a bit of black magic.

The clicking is likely the air compressor relay, sounds like it comes from behind the driver - I have had it occur regularly on 2x L405s and no issues. Annoying though, stops after a couple of mins.

Tyre conditon and geometry have a significant role in tramlining on these.

Tl;Dr. You may want a quick bushings, struts, tyres etc. inspection but to be honest nothing sounds too out of place.

I'll get a lot of flak for this, but I would avoid indies, go to an MD for an inspection and then get it on the extended warranty.
