Rip echo
So sorry . About 5 years ago , We lost freckle when she was only 3 , due to a organ failure ( vets think they wasn’t 100% sure ) . Her sister slept up on end of our bed for first week after which she never ever did . Pined a little only couple weeks then she was back to her self . So hopefully you’re adapt as quickly with as “little stress “ as possible

Thanks folks, there's a big Echo shaped hole in my daily routine which is where I'm feeling it the most - no deep purring, head-bumping, duvet-digging wake up call to let me know it's high time I got out of my bed and feed her, even if it is only 04:30.
So far Ishka seems OK with it but some little quirks of behavior are there which makes us think she's realizing Echo's not around any more.
I've had to have 3 dogs put to sleep so I knew what it was about but this was the first time it was my pet and my decision (rather than parents') so it's made it a bit harder.
Furry little buggers put deep roots into us don't they?

Sad news unfortunately. 3 weeks ago I had a call from the vet that I was really not expecting. We'd put Echo in for some tests expecting a flair up of a Pancreatitis issue she'd had a year ago. Vet told me it was either FIP or Lymphoma, but in any event either either was fatal. We were able to rule out FIP but I was unwilling to subject her to further invasive tests to confirm Lymphoma as the end result was going to be the same
Anyway the speed of the disease has utterly shocked me, the weight fell away from her, significant muscle wastage even though she was eating 4/5 times per day, especially in the last week.
We had scheduled a hospice appointment with a visit-at-home vet for last night but from Tuesday I knew it was likely to be changed to a Euthanasia appointment and unfortunately she confirmed she thought that would be the best thing to do.
Thankfully my better half had a week off last week and I worked from home yesterday and she was having a good day - lots of strokes and head bumps and treats and a good coat brushing which she clearly enjoyed. But in the end she had to go
I'm gutted, she was only 4 and the pace of the illness has really blown me away. Trying to keep her sister distracted as much as we can now and will keep a watch out for her pining.
Here's a last pic of her looking a little goofy with food on her lips
RIP little Echo, it was a short life but a good one.

No pictures as really not suitable to post, but my little one just left me a present on the terrace... a massive rat - about half her size.
As well as killing it, she chewed half its back leg off and it’s tail... eaten them, then vomited both parts back up along with her lunch.
She’s now come back in the house, happy as Larry, yowling for food.
This, after she woke me up at 4am this morning hurtling round the bedroom like she’d been possessed.
Sometimes....

Spike Millgan is reported to have said that you can "stuff a cat with Kit-e-Kat from whiskers to ahole and they'll still go out and kill something" How true!As well as killing it, she chewed half its back leg off and it’s tail... eaten them, then vomited both parts back up along with her lunch.
