How to get rid of mice

We have suddenly started to get mice in my cupboard under my stairs. An outdoor cupboard leads to this cupboard so I am assuming they are getting in that way. I have put poison down and mouse traps in the cupboard and am catching one a day unfortunately. I have also blocked holes in the outdoor cupboard where they may be getting in. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of these?
Mice and rats are a nightmare, I used a nipper mouse trap loaded with peanut butter to get rid of the mice in old house. Took a while to get them all. As we have stream at end of garden we had a family of rats take up residence in our shed in the spring used humane trap to get them and then air rifle to dispatch them ! Good luck !

Have they found something to eat at yours?
Also not the most humane method, but Glue Traps do work well
Please just check them very regularly so the mouse doesn't suffer too much. And keep blocking up holes as driving them away is better than killing them.

A mouse can get through a hole you can barely see.
Be careful with poison a) because it can harm other animals but mostly because b) if one does in void in your house the stink is indescribable and takes a while to go away, and that will happen just after your massive fly infestation. Don't ask me how I know, and then imagine how much worse it is when a rat dies!!

Had a mouse die under the floorboards, first the smell, then the flies. After years of blocking holes, poison, traps etc we gave in and got two kittens.
The mice disappeared, apart from the odd ones the cats brought in from the garden as presents.
I don't live there anymore but the house now has 7 cats with one being pregnant.
Still no mice though.
Went over to one of the kids school friends house recently and as we sat outside the kids came over and said there's a toy mouse, but it turned out to be a huge dead rat on the patio. I'm assume their Husky mustve caught it as it was in its run outside, can't have been anything else. I volunteered to pick it up with a long shovel and told to through it over the fence where there's a wooded area behind. They seem to be quite a problem around my way for some reason.
I've heard too that wire wool and putting expanding foam over the holes will work. Expanding foam is a right mess to work with, especially if you get it on your hands. It took me a few days of scrubbing to fully get it off my hands after using the stuff. The council bloke said it doesn't matter if your house is cluttered, untidy or spring clean, they will get in your house if they can find a way in. They will go straight up to the loft if you have one and work their way down. I've seen ends of carpets chewed.

This was the most recent thread I could find… After almost 10 years of living in the same house and never having a problem with the furry little b
ds it seems we have been over run! In the last three weeks I have caught about 30 of the little tts using a mixture of chocolate (nutella) on cheese, which seemed to have worked well, but now they are avoiding the traps. Well, the Mrs and I were always talking about getting a dog or cat… Now the time is come and we will be picking up our new cats on Thursday, but Right now that seems an age away. Is there anything else I can do to slot the bds? Sticky paper isn’t an option where I live (Austria, it’s illegal). Those sonic deterrents don’t seem to have helped much…. ETA tonight a mate is coming around with his dog, I doubt that will help too much, but maybe a little bit, because we will have the scent of a bigger animalistic the house??
