Isle of Skye in Dec/Jan

Can anyone give any idea what the weather is like up there around Christmas / New Year?
I'm thinking of taking the family away (wife, 4 year olf daughter, 7 month old daughter) just after Christmas for around 5 nights.
In my head it will be a bit like this:
However, before I book it I wondered if the reality was going to be a bit more like this:
Transport / access isn't a problem as I'll be taking the Range Rover on winter tyres. However, if the reality is that it is likely just to piss it down for a week at that time of the year then I think Bermuda may get a look in. That said I'd much rather go up to Skye.

I spend a lot of time in Skye as my family live there.
Unfortunately it's hard to predict the weather!
Skye sits in the Gulf Stream so although there may be lots of snow on the mainland often there's not any on Skye.
In fact I can only recall heavy snow twice in the many years I've spent there at Christmas.
