Route 1 or 3 for us, depending on destination in Spain.
Usually stay a night in San Sebastian or Montpellier depending on route.
Burgos is also a good place to spend the night.
Driven down to Denia and another time to Malaga through central Spain.
It was a bit of a slog but interesting. Overnights in Madrid or Toledo.
One of the trips to Denia was interesting as we had to drive through a forest fire.
Temp in the car reached 57degC. in my plastic TVR.
