Thanks - good to know that it's not just me smile

I can't find any compelling offers on-line, but there may be something when I get to Andorra for the winter.

I'm too old for tricks, so I don't need to worry about that side of things.
You're never too old - I'm closing in on 50 in a couple of years!!

Yeah, but you probably learnt them (or at least the basics) when you were a lot younger - and I've got another 10 years on you. On the other hand, I do have the whole season, so I should at least try some easier ones.

Would love to. Would need to be school holidays, and I need new boots, bindings and a snowboard.

Oh, and I also need employment. So… maybe not.

I'm in Morzine now for a few days of sun ( forecast 28° every day until Tuesday)

And if anyone fancied booking into The Tremplin Hotel at the bottom of the Pleney..

And

Well it's gonna be a wait....

Mr Timpson (key cutting in Tesco's car park fame) has bought it and great things are afoot.

Pop up DJ in front remains for the 24/25 hiver season.

Oh and 5G has rolled out across the village and I get 250Mb in our accom, which is 5x faster than BT deliver to my house at home!

We have a month booked from early March to April back at Arcs 1800….creatures of habit, with luck we may have our offspring join us a bit, if not perhaps some pals.

Regardless, it will be our third year managing a month on the slopes, & despite not getting into skiing until our 40s (so too old/scared/brittle to be black run demons!), we love it!

Having the luxury of a month means we can choose to only go out on the good weather days (although no doubt we will find a whiteout somewhere on the tops…).

It also makes for decent value. I won’t say “cheap”: skiing is never that, but the airbnb we are using gave 30% discount for bookings of 4 weeks or more, & the lift pass at Les Arcs only needs 2 weeks to pay for the season.

Driving means we can take all the gear we want plus we can pick up a chunk of food at the pre-mountain supermarkets. Might make more of a holiday and pootle back more slowly via some interesting towns instead of just one overnight.

Hopefully they will have completed the new TransArc lift over this summer for a more comfortable ride up to 2000!

I love talking skiing in midsummer. Makes me happy!!

Personally, I have some heli booked in Jan, a short work trip in Feb, a short boys' trip in March. Wife has a girls' trip in Dec that also involves spas in case snow is patchy.

No half term this year, instead taking the kids for 3 weeks at Easter. I'll be there for two of them.

I have treated myself to new trousers, and some new Line Blades (at well over 50% off RRP) as I fancy so pole-less messing about. Looking forward to trying them and skiing in a new way.

I am after some Atomic Hawx Ultra Professional boots as my old Hawx are knackered, and i have flat, problem feet. But cannot find a single pair in the right size, anywhere.

I’ve just booked my transfer for our feb half term trip, it was cheaper to book transfer than hire a car! when did car hire get so expensive?!?

daughter starts her next class/ block at hillend dry slope in a couple of weeks. she seems to quite enjoy it, which i’m very glad about! also wife and I need to get our ass into shape so we can actually manage/ enjoy a week skiing. currently in the worst shape of our lives, but 6 months and an expensive trip has focussed the attention!

I would like some new kit, but not a priority for this winter. But we do need 1 x suitcase + 1 x wheelie ski bag! no matter how much she tries, my wife cannot travel light, adding a small kid into the mix, i fear the worst for weight of the bags at check in laugh

I have nothing booked yet but will be doing what you may have seen at the end of last years thread as I went to Val Disere in the last week and it was ace!

We tend to go long haul for the sun in January and instead of booking half term I will go twice (one boys trip and once with my daughter) but will probably go last minute depending on when the snow comes a few days before we travel. I am lucky I can be fleixble. My daughter is doing A levels so will pick 5 days at easter this time I think somewhere high.

Cant Wait!

Less than 10 years ago I used to hire cheapy cars for less than £10 per day.

Seems those days are long gone.

If you're over 21, snow blades are like Converse trainers.

You put them on, you look cool for 0.6 secs (or less) you trip over and then you're out all day and stuck with them, regretting it.

Put them immediately on the wall as post-cool shelves in your man-den

They're not snow blades, just a range of skis - https://lineskis.com/en-gb/blade

My opinion stated above stands.

Ski more funner? Do I have to grow a special beard to go with?
Are the avocados pre-smashed, because I'll be too busy being funner to do this and the insane scarves.

Old fart rant over.

The website is rad and sick, enjoy them!

Have booked Tignes le Lac for Feb 2025 half term, after going same time this year. However this year our half term (Guernsey) seems different to most of the UK, so might be a bit quieter. Wasn't particularly busy this year anyway.

After great chalet last year have gone back to a hotel this year as we are a smaller group. Also this year we are flying direct from Guernsey which makes life so much easier (and cheaper!).

Anyone got a decent transport company from Grenoble they recommend? TIA.

Good job I didn't immediately book the chalet we stayed in this year as soon as we got back - the company has gone under. All deposits gone. The company from the year before stopped trading also, but at least they weren't taking bookings.

We skied the last week of the 2020 season and it was €1350 each for a shared chalet with great food (drinks included) and a driver to pick up at the end of the day. Same level of holiday the last two years was £1800. Much less choice these days, although we are only looking at Meribel for now. The cheaper end seems ok with the likes of SkiWorld and Alpine Elements, and plenty of very expensive places, but little for what we are looking at. Definitely dodged a bullet as I was going to book the whole chalet and fill the rooms but it's a headache to find something else.

Well that's the bulk of my 24/25 seasons booked. Kick off with the opening 2 weeks in Tignes at the start of December, Ellmau for New Years week, and a guided off piste week in the PdS at the end of Jan. Depending what the snow's like this season might get the itch for another trip at the tail end of the seasons too.

I'm told I miss many things not having children but skiing isn't one of them biggrin

La Belle Plagne for us, this year, after Plagnes Villages in 2023….first week of January, as last year.

I went there in July too, as I was close by with the TdeF.

Some of my late wife’s ashes are scattered at the top of La Grande Rochette, on this rocky summit.

She has a beautiful view over Champagny-en-Vanoise… cloud9
