I've just found out HBO are turning American Gods into a TV series. This could go either way, but the book is fantastic, one of the best I've read, so my fingers are firmly crossed. If they do as good a job with it as they've done with Game of Thrones then it will be a winner.

Well, the root of it is there is a war brewing between the old Gods ( Zeus, Loki and their ilk) and the new Gods born from the worship of money, the internet etc. The story centers around 1 man who has to find a path through it all whilst coming to terms with the death of his wife. Written by Neil Gaiman, so therefore awesome! ;-)

Um, well, it is complicated, hell I have read the book many times but it is complicated.

Really really dumbed down it's about the Gods that people believe in exist because people believe in them and how the old Gods are pissed that the new Gods are taking over as the popularity of the old Gods reduces and the new ones rise. In America.

Interesting, one would think that Yahwah would be a bit miffed at the rise of the new Gods as well.

He covers 'belief' very well. Small Gods is an ace book.

I really don't know how I feel about this.

I liked the book, and lots of Neil Gaiman's writing, but I just don't know if this is going to work.

I assume the first season will be covering the book, if so, what next if it's a success...?

Watched the first episode on Amazon Prime on Monday. It was very good and kept to the book very well (there are some small, inconsequential changes). Still not wholly convinced by some of the casting (we all have our own vision of the characters when reading the original - for some reason I always had Vin Diesel in my head as Shadow paperbag)

Looking forward to seeing how it develops, and in particular seeing Peter Stormare as Czernabog, who is a perfect casting for my favourite character smile

Sorry, Amazon Prime and produced by Starz. I've also read the book and thought the first episode was quite close. We'll see. Let's hope the lead has a hard enough edge.

I'm going to start this tonight, intrigued...

Are they all uploaded, or will it be one a week?
