Really want a new amplifier for my guitars. Nothing wrong with my existing one but it's getting on a bit and I'd like a bit more oomph and a different sound. Wife is unable to grasp the logic of this yet 10 mins later can educate me on why she needs these new hair straighteners over her existing ones.

Thrunite TC20 shown next to a £2 coin. £78 I think, 3800 lumens, tested in an underground bunker and it certainly looks like 3800 lumens compared to an El Speleo Lunatic that outputs 2500 lumens. It positively lit up a whole 2 level control room. I like it for the large 26650 battery and plug in USB charger. I'm starting to favour torches more and more with plug in charging... especially when you have as many I have.

Friv because it must be torch number 450. biggrin

I've had a Sony xrs x2 for years, it's been great. Daily duty in the bathroom from my phone, and more recently Alexa. You can get the same one for £35... but they have a newer version now I believe.

I was amazed when I got it for something so small has decent sound. Goes louder than I need too.

UE Boom isn’t in budget but pretty good.
I can agree with this. I've owned my UE Boom 2 for 3 years now, it's been brilliant.

I can't wait to get onto the water in it. Will report back with how it floats.

Daft question, can you just drop in any canal with a canoe/kayak and just go wherever you want to?

Obviously you’d climb out at the locks but are there laws regarding paddling on canals?

Never heard of anyone complaining and I see quite a few on the local canals.
I'm planning on doing part of the Severn in it one weekend when the weather is nice.

To be properly above board you need a waterways licence. However if you join British canoeing you get one as part of that.

Are they any published maps or guides where rivers are easily navigable, where weirs etc are?

It is brilliant though, being able to set the temperature and the entire drink is at it, the only downside is off the coaster it lasts an hour (plenty for 1 drink but you’re not going to be able to refill)

Oh and despite charging at 20v they don’t do a USB C or car charger for it, time for some hackery hehe

Would I recommend buying one, no, not unless you’re happy spending money on iterative improvements, my contigo twistseal eclipse is almost as good for 1/6th the price.

Google Paddle Points. A good website / app which covers UK and abroad.

There’s also a very good book called Pub Paddles (though more SE UK focussed).

We have a two person open one, and last year we could just get both adults and two small boys in it. This year we won't manage it, so that's a very reasonable option to enlarge the fleet.

Please ensure you dress as a pirate when you try it out.
