Overview of the 50/60s arctic land trains (used some of the biggest wheels ever produced)

Enjoyed that. It led me to this 1957 documentary about the incredible engineering and construction feat of actually building the DEW Line, told with the obligatory sinister Cold War/B Movie soundtrack .

Fascinating stuff if you’re that way inclined although you’ll need to skip several mins of the admin bit where presumably the people making the film wanted a starring role.

I'm probably late to the party on knowing who this guy is, but this guy who is/was a head at Ogilvy has some really interesting perspectives on marketing/advertising/business - doesn't seem to be anyone with a bad word to say about him.

Great guy, love his perspective on things, the lift story and the Eurostar story are great.

The algorithm got me on that guy - watched one video of his and then inundated with them

My impression is that because he talks with a fancy accent he can make any old boring thing sound interesting and people lap it up. Not to say some of it doesn't make sense but a lot of it is a bit hyped TBH

His name is Rory Sutherland.

He's being doing his thing since before the internet was a thing. Very astute guy. The quick snippets you see on social media do not do justice to the wider context of the discussions they're clipped from.

If he is hyped, it's with good reason.

I watched some sections of his longer speeches.

I figured he was around pre internet as he looks fairly old.

I quite liked him until I saw one about driving quickly. He’s one of those bimblers advocating driving slowly who thinks anyone who drives faster is a dick.

I was talking to a chef the other day saying I think it's incredible how they can multi-task. The YT listening-in naturally gave me this recommended channel... longer format so worth watching at 2x speed.

Still super impressed how it works at a busy normal restaurant (vs a Fallow type place with 8 chefs each just working a single station)

I found this absurdly interesting - recovering a 30 ton concrete toilet that fell off a lorry.

The 14 wheel drive lorry is pretty awesome!

Anybody a fan of the Yeah Mad channel? Not so much myself since this lot left (Abby/Sam/Alan/Akila/the mushroom guy, forget his name). They started their own channel OG Crew and have the first video up

One of the best produced youtube videos I've seen for a while and from a creator with less than 30k subscribers.
He's a "maker" trying to replicate a very expensive camera rig on a budget.
Well worth a watch:

There's always been some doubt about whether or not this was a spoof. It's a great watch, either way.
