I'm not surprised Jan Michael Vincent looks grumpy.

Looked at his wiki as I didn't know why he has a prosthetic leg.

I think it might be worth putting some names to faces - Some of us younger generation PHers have no idea who a few of these people are! Perhaps even a before/after shot, just to show the change in age? Ultimately though, we all grow old and some people wear it better than others.

Jean Micheal Vincent isnt it ?

Booze and the passing of time can be cruel.
Thought he was younger than 72, he was 40 when Airwolf started so its no wonder, but he does look nearer 90 now, but I think he had some destructive habits so not doing too bad being here at all.

I think when you are younger, you dont spot how old someone is as well, as everyone is old, its like Toni Basil who did that "Hey Mickey" song in the early eighties with the video where she is a cheerleader was nearly 40 back then, but looking at the video should could be anywhere between 20 and 40 really, think for a lot of people aging really kicks in past 40, some, like myself keep their boyish good looks biggrin

I think for men it happens quicker and more obviously, mainly based on hair, i.e. lack of or it going grey, seeing as it isnt regarded as standard practice for chaps to dye their hair like ladies do, my missus has hers coloured but would laugh at me if I did, I cant be arsed and am glad she does as dont want to wake up and see Zelda from Terrahawks.

Also weight plays a part, generally, younger people are slimmer, not always true but middle age creeps up along with a few extra pounds, so being bigger makes you look older generally.

Then there is lifestyle, I know some twins, one is a heavy smoker and has been for years, I didnt use to be able to tell them apart instantly back when we were kids, can now, the smoker is craggier and older looking.

This thread has completely shocked me. Apparently people look older than they did 30 years ago.

Who knew!

Those pictures are 45-48 years apart. I don't think Robert's done too badly. He seems to revel in being the gnarled, old troubadour.

While I don't disagree, can't help feeling there's a portrait in her attic that would frighten us all.

There, that's the 'PH answer' out of the way.

No, actually I don't feel like that: +1 for sentiment expressed well above a couple of times - we all age, that's just life, and to quote Robert Plant as pictured above - into every life a little rain must fall. It's churlish to gurn and point fingers at others.

If they are lucky, all people get older. Some people age, others mature. Susanna Hoffs (57, but the photo is from 2014 so bite me)

Still sounds like she always did too.

Nice. Sure I heard a rather good duet she did with Shirley Manson - a cover of Patti Smith's Because the Night. But I can't find it.

Susannah Hoffs I mean.

Not the most photogenic of poses, this one. laugh Saw her and the band doing their thing about eight years ago, utterly brilliant gig, but it did make me sad to see her still smoking. She, I'm sure, cares not one jot!biggrin

It is called the "guess who" thread! Woman with glasses is Tori Amos who released her latest album in 2014 and then went on another world tour.

Woman with the sad face is Beth Gibbons, lead singer of Portishead. Photographed whilst singing Portishead songs, hence the sad face. laugh
