Please settle an argument I'm having.

A family member is saying they had a supernatural experience where a 'spirit' turned around pictures on their landing while there were out. Me, being a person of science, can't see any logical explanation to how it's possible for a 'spirit' to have moved them.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks it's all a bunch of rubbish.

You are not the only one who thinks it is rubbish.

All things will be explained eventually, Think back to how people felt when Copernicus was being a tad rad. wink

Although in this case someone is likely playing a trick on the aforementioned person

I've seen people who aren't really there, felt things and heard things that aren't real too. In my case it's mental illness that causes me to 'see' and 'feel' these things. I suspect it's the same for a lot of others, whether they are aware of an illness or not. Extreme fatigue can also cause people to experience things they might describe as being supernatural, ie seeing and hearing things. A common thing that people can experience is Hypnagogic hallucinations that are hallucinations experienced in the consciousness threshold from consciousness to sleep and vice versa. These can seem very real and are very frightening to most people as your body seems paralysed.
I think that the human brain is an incredibly complex bit of kit that can make us believe we are seeing and experiencing things that aren't really there. We're fortunate that there is understanding of these issues now, and that we don't burn people who see things at the stake or dunk them into rivers.

CCTV is everywhere. Millions of cameras worldwide in offices, shops, homes, car parks, the High Street. Not a single case of CCTV picking up anything "supernatural". So draw your own conclusions from that.

Yes, it would appear lots of people do. unsurprisingly, none of them are able to produce any actual evidence to substantiate that belief.

This. It's the same with UFOs.

A large portion of the population now carries round a full HD camera/camcorder in their pocket. Everything from crime, accidents to natural phenomena is caught on multiple cameras from multiple angles each and every day.

Yet, despite some relatively high quality photos popping up in the 1970s and 1980s - we have few if any examples of UFOs being caught this way since the advent of camera phones.

Are we supposed to believe that aliens in their flying saucers just happened to become so much more shy since the iPhone was invented.

I've seen things I can't explain and treated people left mentally dumbfounded by things they've seen.

These things would be described as ghosts/ spirits/ jins etc.

I don't believe in ghosts but i do believe there is a lot of things that we can't explain or understand and that the human brain doesn't cope well with things it can't fathom. try imagining a new primary colour for example?

its easy to attribute things we can't understand as spirits/ ghosts etc and our brain will translate things we can't understand into things that make sense to us.

Or maybe its ghosts, I dunno.

I once saw a man walk out of a gateway and into the road in front of a car that couldn't have stopped. the car braked hard and stopped, I stopped. The other driver saw the man and tried to brake but hit him. There was no mark on the car and no body. I put it down to being dark, I was tired, I had blue flashing lights which can create weird moving shadows, I'm driving fast and concentrating on the road etc etc. Thought that was weird and carried on with my shift. mentioned it later and several people I know have seen a man walk out of that gateway into the road. I don't know what we saw that night, but two unrelated people saw the same thing and decided it was a man walking into the road and reacted appropriately (braking etc). Collective psychosis happens in families and groups, I Experienced this with a whole family that were victims of a haunting. Children wouldn't speak/ eat, dad was grey and unable to do anything much, just sat there looking stunned, mum was terrified and gran had scratches on her back from "the thing". proper weird and proper creepy but I still think there was a rational reason for all this.

Its funny, when you dig into it, lots of people have had unexplainable experiences, a popular one being having vivid dreams about friends or loved ones then finding out when you wake up that they've died.

Its a weird world and we're not as knowledgable as we think we are! Now I'm going to go sit under the bed and hide from the monsters!

Better cameras mean better evidence. Harder to fake.

But then, for pretty good images, go see a nut called Billy Meier. Then see the problem. Or at least another problem.

Chillian armed forces are good at confusing insects with ufos.

"Miracle" cures make me laugh. It's always cancer, or paralysis, or similar. But why does god hate amputees? No amputee has ever grown back a missing limb, not so much as a fingertip. When god is making the wheelchair bound jump up and start dancing, why don't the amputees ever get a break. The bloke in the wheelchair with no legs never seems to get a miracle.

The blind can be made to see, but the bloke with no eyes never gets the miracle cure.

Given that when you die. You die.

And there's no Heaven or Hell. (and no god or devil)

Exactly where are these supernatural types hanging out?

And more importantly why aren't they spying on pretty girls in changing rooms rather than turning pictures around and knocking over things! laugh

These threads always go the same way. Those poor idiots that believe in ghosts and rubbish put forward some marginal or ludicrous evidence as fact they exist and the rest of us normal people get to point and laugh.

Having said that, I can't watch a horror film after 12pm if I want to sleep and I have to book an appointment to go into the attic in case the monsters are having a party. I've never been in a cellar without being mildly terrified.

I have never seen something that I cannot explain rationally, I know people who think they have.

You can put people that think they have seen a 'ghost' through a lie detector and it would come through with a pass because they genuinely believe they saw something, personally I think it is all in peoples heads; the human mind is powerful and not completely understood. Tbh it is possible to freak yourself out in a totally empty room with the right train of thought.

That being said I don't let my science and engineering outlook stand in the way of a jolly good ghost story, so chuck another log on the fire and get story telling smile

We live in an interesting world that's a fact. Each to their own in what they believe and what they don't. Things happened to me, not many times maybe once or twice. Once for eg. three of us from the family, my grandma, my father and me had the exact same dream on the same day, dunno how you explain that.

Unbeliever. I was like you till I saw the amazing-and-completely-beyond-any-doubt Prophet Shepherd Bushiri. If anyone can help the amputees it's him. Look at him cure a man with a short hand
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=93aPfV8I2PA

And he can walk on air. And cure baldies. Only a matter of time before he gets round to the amputees. And cash probably.

I don't but people I know have spoken to mediums who have gave them information they shouldn't have known.
They've also spoken to people who believe they are psychic but come out with rubbish.

I was standing in the kitchen a few months back though. Kitchen light off washing a glass just about to go to bed.
The sink overlooks the garden but the blinds were closed. The window is about 10ft wide.
A shadow went from right to left on the blinds just above my head height so 5ft8.
It couldn't have been a bird as the extension would stop its flight from right to left at that height.
Spooked me the fk out anyway at 2am hehe

I have had experiences I can't explain. Very interesting. That should give the annoyed ones over this subject a clue to my previous user name.
