A bit council (Vol 5)

You come across as a little bitter, or jealous.
If I do I’m not. Dislike of the status quo is not jealousy and to be honest that’s a lazy accusation to make. There is much wrong with a system that encourages people to become landlords as if that’s a good use of entrepreneurial investment from banks through to well meaning parents saving for their kid’s mortgage because they’re locked in the system.
I understand why some do it but I’ll not defend their right to make money from those less fortunate. I definitely won’t have any truck with someone suggesting that as a landlord they’re hard done by. It’s money for nothing. They’re a pampered class not a hard done by one.

Why is someone renting 'less fortunate' by definition?
Plenty of scenarios where it's the favorable option for the renter.
Just like a car lease is the right option for some, and purchase for others.
I don’t know the answer but care to take a punt on how many renters would prefer to be owners?Plenty of scenarios where it's the favorable option for the renter.

It does work for some, the word you’re looking for is landlords

I don’t know hey I got involved in this fight but it’s more interesting than slagging fat council families to me.
I’ve rented when it suited my circumstances. The market needs rental properties. It doesn’t need them all to be owned by amateur speculators. It does need an evaluation of renter vs landlord rights. The feudal system’s getting a bit dated.

It has definitely coloured my view of one or two house owners speculating because they have the money to do so as opposed to those with a portfolio running it as their business.

You say you were a "good one" ... all landlords do (I do/did, but I know some tenants of mine would say I wasn't I didn't roll over to them) - landlord-ing does make you the worst version of yourself.
I myself was a "good one" that got sick of it and cashed out my 11 properties (as I was tired of the trials and tribulations of the low end of the market, and) to build my current home, and am slowly rebuilding having rentals again, albeit a different market segment now.
Anyway, living under a roof, owned or otherwise, council.

Never mind 2-faced, it's complete contradictory. It's either work/effort or it isnt. Being a landlord definitely is work/effort irrespective where in the market your properties are aimed at.

No, it was an easy life. People pay me because I own something they’d like to own.You say you were a "good one" ... all landlords do (I do/did, but I know some tenants of mine would say I wasn't I didn't roll over to them) - landlord-ing does make you the worst version of yourself.

I listened to their complaints and dealt with them. I was under no obligation to do so. None.
If you’re going to try and tell me that landlords are hard done by saints looking after their spendthrift tenants I’m not going to take you very seriously. I know you’re not. I’ve already said the rapidity of some prepared to jump down my throat at the suggestion the game is rigged in favour of landlords has not changed my opinion that it would be a brave government to p

Thinking council is an insult? … I am council and proud of it by the way, I’ve avoided replying to my question.

I’d bet the people who can afford to rent the houses (there are 2 of them) near us that are up for $3k (so about £1.6k) per week each aren’t “less fortunate”!Mind you the houses were built as part of a TV show, and are f

I know it’s an unfair system but ladder pullers are beneath contempt.
